Great diorama and photos. The Panzer of the ancient world!

Certainly is a spectacular piece. You would hold the high ground in any battle when you could call one of these up. Great scene. Robin.

I bought the first set of Roman elephants that were produced by someone else and man do I wish I would have waited.
These are beautiful.

I have the two Collectors Showcase and the TG elephant. No comparison as TGs miles better. But then CS ones were cheaper I think? I also have the BlackHawk Carthaginian elephant. While a nice piece I am expecting the TG one to be of better quality.

Yes I have both and I know they were cheaper, but man what a difference.
And don't get me wrong I like them still but the TG one:salute::

The TG War Elephant is an Asian Elephant and made of Pewter. The TCS War Elephant is an African Forest Elephant and is made of resin. The Black Hawk War Elephant is also a Forest Elephant and is made of a mix of resin and Pewter. The African Forest Elephant is smaller than the Asian Elephant. The Forest Elephants were used by the Carthaginians and Romans. The Asian Elephant was used by the Indians, Persians, Macedonians and Romans. King Pyrrhus of Epirus invaded Italy in defence of the Greek City States, with 20 Asian War Elephants, 3000 Cavalry and 25,000 Infantry. He destroyed several Roman Legions in two major battles. The first time Romans encountered War Elephants in battle resulted in total defeat.

I'm not an elephant expert by any means but always thought the African elephant was much larger than the Chinese elephant. I think you're wrong there katana although you tend to state things as cold hard facts.

Joe

Facts are facts; cold hard or otherwise. The largest elephant is the Central African Elephant; which was unknown in ancient times. The Asian Elephant is the next largest Elephant and used throughout southeast Asia as a war Elephant. The Asian Elephant was used by the Macedonians, and Persians too. The northern African Forest elephant is related to the central African Elephant but is smaller than the Central African or Asian Elephant. I suggest you be sure of your facts by doing some research before casting aspersions on my credibility!

Don't get your feathers ruffled. My God man, it's toy soldiers. I see you have added much more information to your simplified previous statement shown here:
"The African Forest Elephant is smaller than the Asian Elephant". - katana

Thank you for the clarification even w/ wounded pride and all.
I didn't mean to insult the elephant expert or cast "aspersions on your credibility", but are you serious? That was rhetorical btw. I've moved on. Cheers

All I care about is that the War Elephant is a great centre piece to my collection and i'm glad TG produced it. I will be looking to acquire the Carthaginian
elephant when it comes out. Thanks all for the likes and responses and keep enjoying the Forum. Sapper.

Very enjoyable diorama and couldn't agree more with the sentiment Greg. I have one of these beauties and a small army of Romans from TG - if you'd enjoy putting together a bigger scene, PM me.
