Really like WP, looking forward to the Hummel and more the 88 AT Gun, but these do not do it for me. Do not like the camo helmet and why give him a rifle and not a MP38/40, he is going to be a mouthful of rifle if he goes over any bumps. Officer just looks a bit odd! Truck, camo looks like 'hollywood' camo in films from the 1960s. Will save my pennies and wait for the Hummel and 88AT Gun, plus still searching for a few WP German winter figures, they are excellent.

The dispatch rider with the rifle was modeled after a historic picture.

Personally I think this is the best looking figure of the six motorcycle sets War Park will be releasing. I also like that it's an SS trooper. It's something different as motorcycle figures always seem to be Heer Kradschützen or Feldgendarmerie.

Cheers, I like WP figures as i do have a few books with pictures on which their figures are based, while i agree that WP do sometimes model their figures on actual photos, i do not think they have in this case and your point is not proved with the 'googled' picture you have used, with a German Army Dispatch Rider from the 263rd Infantry [not SS], wearing a different helmet and on a different type of bike. While i agree on the rifle point, but there are very few pictures of them wearing it this way, but good on WP for trying a different pose, however, on the WP figure i do worry that he appears to have no ammunition for the rifle. On an operational point, i still stand by that would be a terrible to ride with the rifle there, harder to get to if needed and the bumps, plus the damage and probable death if you came off with it round your neck. Looking at the figure and pose, it does appear to be standing and not in motion, so maybe a non-arguement.

I have pictures of the excellent WP Kharkov figures they did and some of the Normandy figures, but i also think they do use a lot of research and figure styles from plastic model makers and fair play to them. The radio communications set which looks as if it was sculped on the Dragon 1/35 scale set is my favourite.

Interesting discussion, agree on the helmet, plus why does he need it, as it is a rider based in Kursk and how much good it would be as the rest of him is not and when riding bike that camo would be travelling a speed no bush travels in nature! He is classed as a scout, so maybe their idea was, WP, he would go ahead and seek out the enemy. His lack of ammo might be adisadvantage.

I have a few WP figures and tanks, like the Kursk range, but think their prices has been creeping up over the last few months and with no UK seller and often getting VAT and import charges the price is not that competitive as it was. Especially with the tanks, but they do well out.

Know everything is rising in price but have noticed it with WP and JJD actually, mainly with re-released figures, older Romes enemies, which have gone up significantly from the first release prices.

It has been mentioned before, but it is about time WP had their own page and threads on the forum. If Collectors Showcase have gone then why not replace them?

That's the case here. War Park posted box art from a 1/35 set on Facebook when they previewed the master sculpt for this figure awhile back. That post got deleted so I don't have the pic handy.

We had this exact same discussion about the odd position of the rifle over on Hobby Bunker. When I was looking for images of the rifle carried in that position I stumbled upon the above picture, which was exactly the same as the model box art War Park posted. So it's probably more accurate to say the above historic pic was used for the 1/35 box art that inspired this figure. War Park just tweaked it with the camo helmet cover to make an SS figure and used the BMW motorcycle they already had.

Gotta say that is some interesting logic above.

However, it definitely wasn't shared by the Waffen SS. The camo helmet cover was standard issue, and there's tons of pics of SS Kradschützen and dispatch riders wearing them on bikes like these pics.

Guys that rifle has any internal magazine, loaded individually or with a stripper clip. Having done some hunting on motorbikes myself I can confirm that rifles slung over the back are more difficult to access, especially with all that extra gear he has there. I'm thinking he's more concerned about getting quick access to his weapon rather than falling off.

Good post Mate as you would in a Wartime situation same as wearing a helmet and as for cam as you riding if you dismount the bike and go into a contact situation don't have time for the cam so well done that german soldier good discipline.

Just said i did not like it, not it was wrong, think you read too much into an opinon and i have seen a lot of pictures of them wearing the grey helmet, which document did you get it from that it was standard issue?

Think your comparason is a bit strange, they were not 'hunting' and i do not know what hunting you do but i have never seen a deer of any other wild animal armed to fire back, unless you know of wildlife that have military grade armourment. I am also assuming you do not drive at the speeds they did and you stop when firing? If you look at the pose he is actually stationary and i can understand the rider having the gun in that position as he could be expecting trouble or has stopped because he suspects trouble. My comment was i would not like to ride a motorcycle with the rifle in that position because of the bouncing around. As an experiment if you want to go out on your bike and ride across the rough ground/roads at speed with your rifle in that position, say 40MPH plus, let us know how it was? I would actually think the same about the gas mask container. The rifle looks like a Kar and they weighted between 8-9llbs, lot of weight bouncing round infront of your chest/face.

Agree on the internal magazine [if KAR then 5 mag clip], loaded individually or with a stripper clip but i noted he did not appear to have any ammunition at hand, no cartridge pouches etc and if he is following the logic of quick access to his weapon then he would need quick access to further ammunition.

I collect a lot of Warpark, but there are some i just do not like, like this one and too many of the Gerrmans have Jackboots, particularly those in the Normandy series, when the boot were virtually wiped out in the German army in favour of the 1943 pattern boot.
Same with K & C, such as the LW006 Ground Crew with Bomb, as he is carrying a huge bomb on his shoulder, must be a relative of Arnie. Plus the British D Day soldier that looks like he is carrying a German MG34 or 42 ammo box. Also not a fan of the Thomas Gunn naked women, bit pervy for me, altho i also think ROM140-Sitting Slave Girl looks a bit like Rennie Rousso.
I have close to 60 John Jenkins Saxon Fyrd, but do not like SX61, as they look too rich and well armed to be from a Fyrd.
Do not get me started on First Legion, they have one error for me, the price tag [hahahah, joking], too rich for my blood, but FL winter Germans are the best i have seen.

As i have said these are opinions and a lot of people had a different opinion as the figure is sold out.

Great discussion.

No, not at all strange, I think most forum members will understand the 'Hunting on Motorbike' comparison when a quick response is required. Maybe if you ever hunted Wild Pigs from a Motorbike you would appreciate the comparison more, Boars may not carry guns but they are Fast, Fierce and don't take prisoners, a bit like the SS ^&grin

FYI, if you check the photo of the WP SS Motorcycle rider more closely you would notice the ammo pouch on his belt on his RHS.

These are awesome figures. I dont collect WW2 but would love to see war park do some ancients or acw
