War Park New Release in June -- Old Guard Artillery Gunner Crew (3 Viewers)

Interesting set of figures to be on this gun.

Only 3 of them are in the correct pose for firing.
There is one holding a linstock and about to fire the gun.
Ane holding a charge and ready to reload and one gunner with the ramrod to sponge out the barrel after firing and ram the charge and shot, so both are suitable.

The gunner with the handspike that moves the gun is wrong, he has to move back from a recoiling gun, of get the handspike broken.

Lastly the officer is not one of the gun crew, he's commanding a number of guns and seen observing the target.

What is needed is an NCO commanding the gun, and a gunner with a round shot ready to reload.

I wish makers did research on the manning of guns and so provide a historically correct set.

BUT after all that, I do like to sculpts and painting of the figures and the gun, great work. :giggle:

Would they really be wearing their packs if they are in battle?
Probably not, they may have gone into the wagons when going into action, but being foot artillery, they may have been left on the gun position, at the rear of the gun where the ammo boxes are and that we did when serving on guns many years ago.

John.

I completely agree with you, Obee.
Unfortunately, it seems that brands don't always do enough historical research before releasing their products.
Personally, I regret that the figures are most often depicted in full dress rather than in campaign dress.
While certainly visually appealing, it's not always very realistic.
