The 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 was an 88 mm tank gun used by the German Army during World War II.
This was the primary armament of the PzKpfw VI Tiger I tank. It was developed and built by Krupp.
The KwK 36 was derived from the 8.8 cm FlaK 36 anti-aircraft gun by adapting/modifying it to the limited space available in tank turrets.
The shells of the KwK 36 tank gun including Panzergranate 39 (PzGr. 39), PzGr. 40 (APCR), Hl.39 (HEAT), Sprgr. L/45 (HE).
In this month,War Park release Tige tank crews who are reloading the Sprgr. L/45 high explosive shells.
The Sprgr.L/45 high explosive shell weighs about 14.4 kg. It roughly consists of three parts as following: cartridge case, projectile and nose fuze (from left to right).
Cartridge case: The cartridge itself is divided into three types: the copper type 6347, the steel plated copper type 6347St and the pure steel 30St type.
Projectile:The weight is divided into five grades, distinguished by the Roman numerals from I to V printed on the projectile, with the numeral IV is between 9.09 and 9.27 kg.
The projectile of high explosive shell is always painted yellow above the Führung.
