Yesterday in Washington, DC - an important meeting was held with the "Speaker of the House" ;) - which the subject of future furniture purchases & placements for 2009 were reviewed.

This meeting was called by the very crafty Secretary of Defense - sensing a afterglow of a wonderful Christmas. Upon this meeting (and very excellent lobbying :D ) it was decided and approved by the Speaker of the House - that Military facilities may be INCREASED !

Very soon we have a new addition coming into the Capitol Hill Townhouse - see picture below  This is all very good news to King & Country - I assure you.

Looks like 2009 will be a Great Year !! :)

Good for you Ron. You are always saying you wish you had more space. That cabinent looks like it will really help to stimulate the economy in 2009.

How many cabinets is that now??? :)

Does anyone know of a curio cabinet less expensive then the "Howard Miller Townsend Village Display Curio Cabinet" but has the same dimensions or does anyone know where I can get this one for the cheapest price? This is the only curio that I have found that has a depth close to 2 feet (i.e. 20.5 inches to be exact). I don't have any curio as of yet but would like one that is large enough for some dioramas. The link below provides a picture and description of the one I'm referring to above. Thanks!

Not sure if you are looking for a fancy piece of furniture or not but you could try Ikea.

I found this one....http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20150084

Shelves are not as deep, only 15 3/4 inches but the cabinet is wider by a foot.

Most curio cabinets are somewhat shallow. You might try looking for some used commercial display cabinets. 2 ft deep display cabinets are not uncommon.

Thanks for the info. I definitely would like a cabinet at least 20 inches deep for some dioramas that I have planned. I'll keep looking around to see what I find but, price is a consideration. :)

The Curio that I have listed is from http://www.curiocabinets.com - these wonderful cabinets are shipped right to your door ! :D

Great quality - beautiful woodwork - great lighting. I hihgly recommend this company - I have bought four cabinets from them - great selection and all were shipped great !

Ron,
Too Funny! I was convinced you were informing us about some underhanded secret governmental meeting in which they were spending my money without giving me a say. Is it a Howard Miller like Historyfortheages posted? That is a beauty! Good luck with the GSA sign-off on that aquisition.

I bought one of these a year ago. It is not much over a foot deep, but it is very wide (about 46 inches). What I also like about it is that there is there is lots of clear viewing area in the front because of the frame. I would kind of like to get a deeper one next time, just as you, because it does allow more depth in the dioramas. Macy's sells it in the store, and that is where I bought mine when it was on sale.

I like the new one you got too, Ron. It should go well with those Napoleonics.
