I have often admired the Napoleonic dioramas that Clinton (Octavian) has shared with forum members in past threads. So much so that recently I have purchased Britains Hougoumont North Gate, Well, Straight Wall set, and Wall set with Working Gate and two corners. I have also been able to acquire 14 Britain Defense of Hougoumont figure sets. In preparation of all of this I rearranged my "man-cave" in order to accomodate a 4 foot by 8 foot play table that I built my grandchildren several years ago. It currently has a Playmobil castle on it which I have decided to finally dismantle and put away in storage boxes, possibily to sell. The grandkids have outgrown it and don't play with it anymore. I plan to "resurface" the table with 1/4" plywood to use as a base for my Waterloo diorama. Still formulating the plans but I thought I would share with you some "before" pictures. By the way - for your perspective, the castle towers are 26 inches tall.

Mike,

That is going to be a nice sized table for your project.

Might need another bag of Celluclay, lol:D.

Just kidding, that stuff lasts forever.

Get to work, I'm ready to watch.

I love the playmobil castle. That took some time to collect ....

Mike

Looking forward to watching the progress of your Waterloo project.

Can recommend a 8' x 4' dio base-My static Gettysburg set-up is now exactly that size- following a massive reduction exercise from it's original square footage.

Thanks for all your responses and support. Well, I am committed now to my new project, although my wife thinks I should just be committed. Not much yet but it's a start and I am enjoying every minute of it.

Will you be selling off your Crusaders to fund Waterloo as you did with Jenkins for the Crusades? I hope not since they have given you so much pleasure and been a treat for the rest of us to look at and enjoy vicariously.

No plans of that happening Randy. I've had way too much enjoyment "playing" with my knights. I plan on keeping the Crusaders as my K&C collectibles and will collect the Hougoumont/Waterloo range as my Britain's collectibles. I was eventually drawn to the Napoleonic figures for basically the same reason I was drawn to the Crusaders - COLOR. I just really enjoy the colorful uniforms - really eye catching for me. And of course there's the history . . . need I say more.

Hi Mike,
Lovely to see you embarking on the Napoleonic range. Thank you for your kind words regarding my dioramas. I'm glad its inspired you to do your own, which I imagine, will be nothing short of amazing, and huge, to say the least. I look forward to your progress and also having a chat again real soon. Take care buddy and enjoy the journey :D
Best Regards
Clinton

Excellent Mike, Can't wait to see this develop and grow. If it is half as good as your Crusaders dio's we are in for a real treat !!!!!
