Website problems? (2 Viewers)

I agree that it is running much better. I too am getting a lot of "Page cannot be found" messages.

We are really cooking compared to what it was doing. Good job I T guys!!!!

That was "Phase One" of the bid to optimize the site. We are hoping "Phase Two" will make it even more stable, faster and eliminate the "page not found" messages. I noticed a rash of those in a short period of time today so we are definitely not through tinkering.
Thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming if weird things happen good or bad.
Regards,

Regards,

Shannon,

I don't know if it's an IT problem directly linked with this site, but everytime I log on, I see nice photographs of new releases.

I then mysteriously find that my bank balance drops followed a few days later by a parcel being delivered to the door.

Weird. Weird - good, but weird....

I had trouble opening some threads today. Would not allow access. Leadmen

Sunday Dec 17 somebody unplugged something. I couldn't even get the sight to open at all.

I have experienced problems all day today. The forum has been running slow and I received a "page not found" message a couple of times with one coming in trying to post this response.

Ugh...still getting all the ducks in a row to move the forum to a new host. The new host runs an earlier version of MySql (which is what kind of database the forum runs on) and they are upgrading to MySql5 today or tomorrow. Then we have to work with both the old host and the new host to get the forum moved (don't want to lose all the current posts).
Hopefully once we move you will know it immediately by the lightning fast loads (I can dream anyway...):) .

Ya, I've been really struggling with the site the last couple of days,
lots of multiple attempts to read postings
Ray

It will be nice to not wait so long and to not have so many "unable to display" pages pulled up. However, this is a free service that Shannon and Pete offer, so I am grateful for it regardless of the speed. Remember the days of 51K dial-up. I pity the folks that are not able to get DSL.

I look forward to the problems being resolved. Is there a date when the server transfer is to happen?

Ah, the neverending question ...

For those techies out there .... we will be moving this forum once our new web host has their MYSQL5 server up and running. They have been having some problems getting it implemented - the minute it's available we're moving. I thought that would be last weekend - yet we still wait.

Sorry for the delays. Trust me - I'm as frustrated (or more) as anyone else!!!

Not to worry old friend. I just finished watching a television show on PBS entitled 22nd Century that discussed the possibility of a human version of the World Wide Web. Our individual brains would be wired to interface with each other. Creating a World Wide Mind (a human wide interconnected web). Can you imagine, knowing how to speak Chinese and not taking a single lesson. Knowing the fundamentals of astrophysics and understanding what a quark is, where and what are those other 10 dimensions in string theory and being able to play the violin effortlessly. No more school?

This human computer system would have many distinct disadvantages, like no lying, no secrets, and no individual memories. Many hard issues are yet to be resolved, but the technology is coming and it’s not like when futurists predicted that we would all be flying to work in our hover cars.

So those that are impatient with the forum learn patience and have an appreciation for time. Remember the Commodore 64 and the Apple 2 was once leading-edge technology?

Sounds like the Borg in star trek.
