Welcome to the new server!! (1 Viewer)

Peter, Great Job!

Thanks for the hard work making this place more user friendly and keeping a place online for all of us to connect and talk about our collections, ideas, etc.!

I reposted a number of things that were lost in the transfer. I had no problem uploading photos. Upload speed was good. I uploaded the latest version of Chrome onto my Windows XP photoprocessing platform to noavil. I still get a Cannot Connect error message. No problem on the same XP platform using Firefox. All functions seem normal IMO.

My IT is looking into it. One of the reasons for the switch is that Google is insisting that all pages with a log-in be secured. On a forum like ours, that means every page. Some security things may not work with old versions of browsers. I don't know if Chrome is still supported for XP.

Tried to post pictures in the JJD forum today, to replace the ones that have gone missing and it won't do it.

It says, 'Error writing temporary files'

I posted in the same way as I always do; Photobucket > copy direct link > paste from URL

Thanks...I'll forward that to my IT guy...

Until the change over to the new server I was using Chrome on my XP windows machine without any problems. I use XP for supporting Picasa Image processing as it is stable and reliable; other Windows OS not so much. I switched my XP browser to Firefox and no problems at all. Everything worked as before the change over, but a bit faster IMO.. I reposted several lost posts with three photos each and no issues whatsoever! I store all images on my XP machine, so no transfers from other sites are required. Everything is internal except data transfer to your server.

The error message from Chrome on XP is; 436835 SPDY Inadequate Transport Security. I downloaded the latest version version of Chrome to my XP machine and got the same error message. The interesting thing is I do not have the problem using Chrome on my Android 4.4 HP Slate 21-100k; which is my primary web machine. I hope this info is helpful in resolving any issues.

Just for reference. I am on Mac with Chrome and all is fine

I can access the forum on my tablet but not on my main desktop çomputer which is Vista. Google no longer supports Vista or xp. Any advise or solutions so I can access from my desktop? Just checked using my wife's laptop with no access problems. Still no luck with my desk top . . . get error message .... something about inadequate security????

Have always accessed the forum on an iPhone 6/6s and haven't experienced images loading so slowly. Usually they are there as I open the page but now some, obviously the larger files, are taking 20 seconds and more (I give up just about then).

It's on a 4G network or 500m home wifi

I have an iPhone 6s and am not having the problems you describe, either via Wifi or my phone company's network.

Since Gogle Chrome no longer supports Windows Vista and Windows XP, I believe anybody using these systems will get the error message Inadequate Transport Security when trying to go to the new server site.

Yes, I ran into that same issue this week, after I got Chrome 56. All of my test sites at work now show as unsecure. In our case, it just means that I have to accept the message for the unsecure security certificate. It's a minor PITA to have to see it. At least in IE and Firefox, the browser prompts you to create an exception for that page, or site, and then you don't have to see the message. Chrome now has a label that appears at the address line, and it catches my eye, and IT version of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Prost!

I had the same problem with my XP platform using Chrome. I switched to Firefox and I no longer have any problems. I have posted replys and new threads with multiple photos and all went smoothly.

Seems that a small switch in the way I usually post pictures helps and I've had success.

Usually, I'd open the insert picture frame and then go to my Photobucket account, copy the link, come back to Treefrog and then paste it and post it - that doesn't seem to work at the moment and I have tried again this morning.

However, by not opening the insert picture dialogue box until AFTER I have copied the direct link works 😂😂

This is a test of posting a photo. I use Photobucket, too.

In Photobucket, for this image, I clicked the menu icon (three layers or bars, aka, a "hamburger" icon) in the upper-left corner of the tile in my library page. This expanded a selection menu. I clicked Share, got the dialog with the various links to use. I clicked the IMG link to copy it, and pasted it below:

Looks like it works as it always has. I expected that, in any case.

Prost!

Just a reminder, too, if you haven't thought of it yet, but you should update any shortcuts or bookmarks you may have had for the forum, to use the new URL. That avoids any redirect issue, and, the redirect might not be used indefinitely.

Prost!

I can't figure out why do I have to keep logging in after not being on the forum be it the next morning, or after so many hours of not being on the forum^&confuse^&confuse changed and entered new password, made sure to check the "remember me" box and still no luck?? maybe I'm not doing something right but this is getting a little old after 2/3 days.

That was initially an issue which has now been corrected. Your computer is probably using an old cookie...if you clear cookies it should be fine.

After working out a few of the bugs on my end I must say a big 'thanks" to Pete and the new forum updates!!! I posted a few photos today and it was much easier and quicker to post them!!! as most know, we few middle aged guys (esp. me) do not like changes when it come to computer stuff, but as they say "change is a good thing"...sometime ^&grin
