At the K & C dinner in Brisbane last week a fellow collector asked Andy if he might do a range on Monte Cassino. It was something I was thinking myself. I'd like to hear others thoughts on the worth of this. In damping the idea down, Andy cautioned that the Allied uniforms were very similar, which I accept, but some of the options, including New Zealanders, Poles and the various French forces intrigue me. It also allows German paras to be revisited. On that, does anyone know if their uniforms were different to the ones worn in Normandy? Given Arnhem is done for the forseeable future, maybe there is room for it?

Well, I personally would like to see this battle in particular but, the italian theatre as a whole addressed. MC german FJ's wore a hotch potch of camo and single colour jump smocks. I don't think there was much uniformity from the pictures there were even numbers who wore the old grey coloured uniforms. So, there would be the ability to address them in a more open minded manner for sure.

As for allied yes most of the uniforms would be similar apart from unit badges but, also there were Gurkha's and indian units fighting there so, this could produce some very interesting sets of figures. I often wonder why a whole theatre like the italian one which saw some of the hardest fighting the allies faced has not been looked at.
