What about Alymer (1 Viewer)

I delt with Tono a few weeks ago ordering some stuff. Such a pleasure to work with and very helpful!
See you in Chicago!

ALYMER copio la figura de Poste militare sin ninguna duda, al final de los años 80 creo que se dedicaron a copiar una serie de figuras de 90 mm en vez de crear nuevas piezas

Hat tip to Mirof, for posting an update about Alymer over at Planetfigure:

http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/alymer-is-back.73643/

and here is the website:

http://www.alymer.com/

It looks like Alymer has picked up the molds from the now-defunct Army House. Those figures were originally sculpted for Franklin Mint's series of the Seven Years War. I have some of the original Franklin Mint figures, and some of Army House's versions. They're relatively well-sculpted. I don't recall who sculpted them. I'm glad to see that they're available again.

Prost!

Hi Baron,

seems nobody knows that ARMY HOUSE was ALYMER... and I confirm you they work to Franklin Mint along many years and with a lot of different pewter products, like cars, chess, trains, car badges, historical figures and of course soldiers collections.

It´s real exciting open some casting molds.

Tono

Hi SOLDADOMANIA,

Yes they do it, also do small changes and offer the figure mounted and painted meanwhile Poste Militare offers it only as kit (if I don't be wrong).
I don't like this practicess, but what is done, is done.

Thanks for that bit of info, Tono. No, I don't think anyone knew that Army House was connected to Alymer. I don't remember seeing anything on the old Army House website that indicated the relationship. The connection between Army House and Franklin Mint was obvious, since the figures are immediately recognizable. Who sculpted the series depicting Frederick the Great's army?

Prost!

Are you saying you've copied another maker's figure?

Hi Baron,

I don´t know who was sculpted this collection, maybe can find this information in the boxes of docs I was rescue. If I found the information I will add in the model information. I have a lot of resin masters from these collections.

Yes, it seems they was do it at 80's.

Remember I was bought all company goods in 2014, and I´m discovering some of this things from then. I can't change the past but can learn from these mistakes. In this year I worked with five different sculptors, Antonio Meseguer, Angel Terol, Pascual Sales, Alfonso Miquel and Alfredo Chaves.

Interesting; that's something else I've never heard anyone say about Alymer.

Thanks to both Brad and Mirof, and, of course, Tono,

The Franklin Mint series consisted of 25 figures of which only one was mounted (Friedfich II) The series was issued in 1986 to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Friedrich der Grosse. There was no mention of the Seven Years War, as I recall, but most of the figures came from that era.

The current Alymer catalog has 23 of these figures listed, the only ones missing being the aforesaid mounted figure of Friedrich der Grosse and the Kadett, Berliner Kadetten Haus.

I am excited because I can now, after a wait of several years, get the 2 figures missing from my set!

I notice that Tono has different names and dates for many of these figures, from those which appear in my copy of the Army House catalog. However, the Army House catalog was also at variance with many of the descriptions on the Franklin Mint Cards ( I was lucky to pick up a full set of cards, for this set, on eBay about 18 months ago)

To add a bit more spice, I have a painted foot figure of Friedrich II, which I understand is EF 20, but it doesn't appear in my version of the AH Catalog. I also have an undercoated casting from AH, a 6th Hussar standing beside his horse, which is CF-1 in the Catalog. Neither appeared in the Franklin Mint series!!

So, please Tono. open up some more molds for some more surprises. You have at least 4 more Prussians to find. Several people will be waiting.

Thanks for your good work so far, I hope your efforts will be suitably rewarded!!

Regards,

Bob

Hello,

I remember Army House many years ago and had a small coloured catalog then. I didn't realise that it was Alymer then. Anyway, I had bought a pre-painted 54mm figure then which I think is from Army House.

Hi Victor,

Yes it's an Army House figure, was the reference EF-15 from the A.H. catalogue.

I discover the internet experience from previous owners opening a docs box, where I find some catalogues and all the Army House website developement. Actually I offer this figure as model kit in our website.

Tono

I was struggling to find18th century stuff on the website?

Another source of castings for this period is welcome.

Is it me or do others think that the figure below has more than a touch of Stadden about it?

Well done for reviving these Tono. Good luck with your venture. Are you coming to Birmingham in October?

Best

M
