What Do We K&c Guys Do For A Living (2 Viewers)

are there any new forum members or older guys that haven't spotted this thread,?? please we would love to hear what you do for a living...sammy

New guy here. I'm a patent attorney in Perth, Western Australia. For the geographically challenged, this is a long way from anywhere. I mostly work in pharmaceutical patents.

Interests are primarily North Africa (ho hum, I know) and FJs, largely because my paternal grandfather was a WO2 in 2/11 Bn AIF - capture of Tobruk and battle of Crete. I have been tempted, on several occasions, to go Zulu - my wife is from that part of the world and still has family there, and I figure getting the wife involved in the hobby can't be bad ...

I've been watching the forum for several months, and have been contunually impressed at the level of knowledge and willingness to help of the forum members. Hopefully some day I'll have something meaningful to contribute.

Regards

Todd

Welcome aboard Todd! Just having a genuine interest in and opinion about the hobby gives you something meaningful to contribute.

It might be a long way from anywhere, but its still one of the cleanest cities I've ever been to and full of very friendly people. Course, every second person seemed to be a Scot.....:rolleyes:
Welcome to the forum Todd - nuthin' wrong with collecting WWII N.Africa. It was the release of the K&C LRDG Chevy's and SAS Jeep that rekindled my interest in the desert war. I'm sure you've checked out The Lt's excellent Zulu War dios and those of his trusty henchmen.
And trust me, once you've got the wife interested in this hobby, it's plain sailing. Get her into SOHK like Jeff's wife and mine, or the John Jenkins Raid on St Francis - and you won't look back. :D:D:D

Cheers

Thanks Louis and Harry. Five minutes on the forum and already conversing with forum royalty!

Harry, I'm pleased someone out there knows where Perth is (and my family are Scots).

The Lt's Zulu war dios are really inspiring. I'm in South Africa, and Natal in particular, fairly regularly, and have been to Rorke's and Isanhlwana. The only thing stopping me collecting is the $ - must stay focussed (especially if there's some 8th Army armour on the way - I missed out on the Matilda, so my dingo is somewhat outgunned by a CS 88 and the Tunisian Tiger).

Best

Todd

Todd,

Welcome to the Forum. Great to have another North Africa fan. I'm also an attorney, also in the pharma business, but not on the patent side.

Welcome to the forum Todd, hope you have fun and enjoy sharing your hobby.

Thanks Rob and Brad (this is great, I've been reading your posts for months, and now I'm actually responding to them). It's certainly been fun so far. I'm looking forward to getting to the point where I have enough knowledge about some particular aspect of the hobby so that I can contribute in the way that so many of the forum members do. The hobby has also inspired me to do a lot of reading, and has really added to the enjoyment I get out of researching aspects of my family history. Brad - I'd much rather read a well written history book than a tedious judicial pronouncement. Unfortunately, one pays for the other. Current obsession is the battle of Crete, and I'm wondering what else K&C can do with the (brilliant) FJ series ...

Todd,

Hope it wasn't too painful reading some of those posts :D but we're glad you're on the inside but it is true: negotiating those contracts or analyzing a patent helps pay for this.

Todd, its always great to see someone on the forum who is full of enthusiasm for their subject, military History really has the habit of grabbing you and not letting go doesn't it?!I also think you will find many others here who are big fans of the FJ's,superb figures and high on my wish list.

Oy, 'Harry where is Flashy?

He's been locked up in "The Slammer" inside my camera at the moment - yeah, the very same camera I forgot to pack in my luggage before I left home.....:(
But don't worry, the present occupant of "The Throne Of Heavenly Contentment" :)D) is working on the great escape.

Phew, wonder if I'll get away with that one....:rolleyes:

Thanks for the welcome Rob. You're absolutely right about military history. There's always another angle, another perspective. I like everything from broad political overview to personal histories. I'm glad to hear that there's good support for the FJ range -more likely that Andy will release new material!
