What does LOL mean ? (1 Viewer)

T.T.F.N. I believe dates back to a WW2 BBC (World war two, British broadcasting corporation) radio personality (Tommy Hanley?)
O.M.G. (Oh my god) was apparently first used by a Royal Navy officer after the battle of Jutland in 1917! (according to Q.I.)

What about the abreviations that were written on the back of envelopes by Squaddies e.g. S.W.A.L.K. (sealed with a loving kiss) or N.O.R.W.I.C.H. please don't translate, there may be ladies reading!!^&grin
