My latest research took me back to various dispatches. During this I found something that really surprised me.

What happened to the Americans?

I reviewed the dispatches from now back ..May...April...March...February...January...December...November...

It was not until October that I found any American soldiers made by KC??? Just a couple of WWII armored pieces?? Correct me if I am wrong.

No Civil War no notta?? WOW. Seven months??

My adopted compatriots are gone....?

Do Americans not sell??

Ludwig

I think you will find K&C have produced a huge amount of US figures in the past couple of years from attention figures to action figures covering 82nd 101st airborne to many ground units. so, I don't think they are being neglected or, are not sellers. These things are cyclical and, in recent months brit releases over a few ranges have taken the fore. german releases are always prevalent and, now in terms of WWII we are moving east.

Yes give me more WW2 Japanese soldiers of the East...... were brutal but effective keeping law and order though - that's what my grandma used to tell me Japan invaded SINGAPORE.

Have to agree mate there been loads of American stuff but think the British ETO stuff as been long overdue bit like the Market Garden range:) in kc defence they do make the biggest range so it must be hard to keep everyone happy

I am about saturated with German TS . It is time for something else. How about some US troops from the 4th infantry Div ; They were the first on the Normandy beaches ( The 8th infantry Regiment) and fought their way through the Normandy hedgerow fighting and during the battle of the Hurtgen forest.
That would be a nice change .
guy:)

I hope for some 90th div landing on utah

richard .

You mention Civil War. There haven't been any for a couple of years I believe and I don't know when and if we will see any. It's possible they may have, unfortunately, ceded the field to FL, Britains and CS. Hope this is not the case because they were excellent.

We also havent seen any of the West. Dont know when and if we will see those either. Again, very well made.

As far as WW II, haven't seen paras in many year. Perhaps we will see some soon. I think he tired of making them. I have all he ever made but I'm sure newer collectors would like the chance to buy some.

Well, seven months for anything seems like a long time to me. Someone wrote Civil War has been almost a few years? I do not collect it yet, but I had been considering it.

I have to conclude that they are not selling. If they were it would not have been this long.

Perhaps Andy or Helen could enlighten us?

Ludwig

I don't think any collector can conclude a range does or does not sell?? I have heard from several dealers that MG sold well and, continues to be popular yet, none for quite some time. SOKH is well known as a big seller but, we are not saturated with releases for even one of the most popular ranges they do. I would venture that its down to the numerous ranges that K&C do and, that they have to prioritise what to make from existing ranges and embarking on new ranges.

Perhaps thats a question you should ask when, or if, you attend the forthcoming events?

We are certainly not saturated with releases any longer on any ranges. The high costs of materials and doing business today I would imagine. As we have discussed this, I have to agree with Bayern on due to these variables what sells dictates what is produced (other then figures produced from where the owners heart is, where they are from etc). If I were to make toy soldiers I would make what I like first too.

Big sellers are also a regional thing. The HK series does well in China. It does not in America. This is true for other ranges. The Alamo does great in America. It does not abroad. I can only imagine that the RAF airfield and bob disposal sets do great in Britain. What country is depicted is going to sell better on that continent in most cases. I actually have a great deal of IC and HK. But I do not know another collector in the USA that does personally. I spent a great deal of my life in the orient and appreciate things oriental.

Yes perhaps Bayern or myself can ask Andy at the show! Being as we are going!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or perhaps Andy could let all of us know right here on Treefrog and not expect Ludwig and me to remember after all of the fine beer we are going to drink!. Perhaps we might get a little clue to something new...........
Perhaps the clue was Bayern's reason for starting this thread??

Maybe you and Ludwig just want a chance to drink fine beer ^&grin Who needs a reason for that? :wink2:

Don't give us away!! I can actually think of not much better then drinking fine imported ale's, pilsners and stouts with fellow collectors!!

well, considering K&C release every month we are either saturated or the cupboard is bare!!! the originator of the thread suggests we are bare for some range releases but, I could list many american figures from the last few years and, one only needs to look at what has been released to see that there have been a lot. maybe not as many as some would expect or want but, thats true of every range any manufacturer does. I don't know many big LAH collectors in the UK that have as comparative a collection as I do but, I know from K&CUK that there are indeed big collectors. Just because one person does not know of any does not means a range is either popular or, that they are the singular collector. I would again imagine only andy knows how well SOHK does in the us but, from being on here I know a fair few collectors from the US who are heavily into this range.

You and Bayern have raised your points mine is another point in response to the open question posed. I just don't see how we can say there have been to few US troops and armour. It may be too few for the originator of the post but, that does not mean its correct in fact. I think if one looks back over the last few months or years even the number of german releases have slowed down as other ranges are being brought to the fore like WWI, ALH, etc etc. As I said ask at the get together and, if its too difficult to do before consuming large amounts of beer ask before you start. but, I would venture that Andy would answer that he has addressed heavily the US in winter and summer theatres of operations in WWII.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree over the question in hand

Interesting points. No one argues that previously there were many Americans produced. It is the now being debated not the then. I will look forward to Andy's post for the forum to get it straight from the man!

What thinks you, Ludwig?

Gerhard

I went over every US figure dispatched over the last 12 months ( infantry not vehicles!!!! and not BoB figures)
In 2011 we had a few MP's, Bradley, Ike,escort officers and only 5 GI's in fighting positions .( most of them lying down)
The year before, in 2010, most of the releases were D-Day minus 1 figures all wearing enflated life jackets so only suitable for use in a landing craft or directly on the landing beaches.
US infantry in fighting positions: not since june last year. So a few new GI's would be more than welcome
guy:confused:

We must remember that most ranges have a time slot in the year in which they are usually released. Now as Guy says the GI's/ M7 Priest were released last summer, so why would anyone expect more since? There are many other WW2 and non WW2 ranges to be released and they all have to take their turn. Also it must be remembered that K&C have made US Figures and vehicles for years and years, infantry, Paras,Tanks, trucks you name it, sometimes these things have to take a break for a while. Take the FOB series. Their were few releases for a while and people were saying oh its finished and then whammo! Out come Brits and bomb squads and shot down Jerries etc. There was once a guy on here who said ' Why can't you make some Afrika Corps figures every month K&C' ????!!! Er....because some other people collect other things I'm guessing!{eek3} Hold steady chaps, I'm sure we've not seen the last of the GI's{bravo}}

Rob..

well said. we had similar with arnhem and quite a few worldwide collectors voiced their concerns as toi where this range was going. we know its still alive just waiting its turn. good to see we can talk like grown ups over such a simple issue!!!

I agree whole heartedly. There are responses about to this thread about in the past, this that, someone asked for one specific line etc. We are not talking about just one line like as one post put it Africa Korps every month.

I started the thread about one whole country not one line. No Americans in any sets at all. That would be any of the WWII categories; Civil War; American Revolution; Real West. No Americans for WWI after how many German releases; Scots; British and now two French releases. That was the point.

The point was not to downgrade the situation because one is getting what they want at this time.

I an many others think they are not being produced because they do not sell well. Perhaps we will still hear from Andy yet? Hello Andy?

Really!! No Americans. ^&confuse In 2010 - 2011 K&C produced 18 Battle of the Bulge American sets in October/November - There may be more this coming October/November. And as for D-Day Americans, K&C has produced 31 sets about mid-year 2010 - 2011. We might see some mid-year this year? There were 29 Civil War sets released in 2009 - 2010, 10 Alamo sets 2010-2011, and 13 US Air force in 2010-2011. There are still 7 more Dispatches to come this year.
He may even produce some Americans in Bavaria 101st Airborne LAH sets this year ^&grin

Terry, Read the original post. It states no Americans since October of last year or approx seven months. I have seen all of the dispatches since probably 2004/5, as that is how long I have been buying KC.

As for the Bavarian's lets not get too personal now....................would hate to be censored twice in one evening!!!!.

You take care and thanks for your post!!

Ludwig!!
