OK boys and girls. Todays assignment is an essay. "What I got for Christmas"

I'll go first. Sister Liz Gave me 2 of the new Patriot figures. Napoleonic Young Guard loading and standing firing.
My Father gave me a set of steadfast French Imperial Guard and one of the new Britains Napoleonic sets.
The girlfriend gave me a Frontline set Napoleonic Irish Legion Marching.

Hmmm, looks like a pattern to me:)

Yep the French. Napoleon hoped to train the Irish and then send them back to Ireland to fight the English closer to home.

What no takers on what I got for Christmas?

Hi K-V,

I also had a very happy Christmas as I received several toy soldier gifts. My wife enhanced my K&C Napoleonic collection with the following gifts:

NA26 - Mounted Emperor and Mameluke Servant
NA64 - French Horse Artillery of the Guard Gun Set
NA87 - The "Sgt. Ewart Set"

My older son and his wife provided the following:

A really nice gift certificate with instructions to add to my Monarch Regalia Samurai collection (one of their favorites in my collection). I am only too happy to comply with their instructions!

My younger son gave me a nice personal check and I am allowed to choose whatever figures I wish to purchase. I have yet to decide what I want to purchase with his gift. There are soooo many wonderful choices available.

Well, that was my toy soldier Christmas. Not bad, was it? :)

What did others on the forum receive?

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Pat!

Happy Christmas! It sounds like it was a happy Christmas too. Great sets. Monarch Regalia Samurai? Sounds neat. I especialy like the NA 26. Bought one for my father and one later for myself:)

Cheers KV

Hi K-V,

I know from a former post that one of your favorite K&C Napoleonic sets is the 2006 Christmas set with Santa and the young drummers. Since I received a little toy soldier spending money from my younger son, I am considering purchasing Santa and the Drummers. I'll make my final decision in a couple of days.

Monarch Regalia Samurai? I am probably the only guy on the forum that collects these wonderful, glossy figures. I believe they are produced in Indonesia and there are only a couple of U.S. Dealers that handle them. I came across them at the 2005 OTSN show and I fell in love with them. I think they are wonderfully sculpted and nicely painted in a bright, traditional glossy finish. They are especially colorful in their shiny armor. Like many of the lines I collect, I cannot seem to acquire enough of them!

I really should not go to the OTSN show because I always return having been captivated by some new line. This year it was Ana Donzino's Delhi Durbar figures (I cannot seem to acquire enough of these figures either). It is anybody's guess (including my own) what I will haul home next year. There are just too many temptations at that show!

At any rate, Yes, I had a wonderful toy soldier Christmas. It sounds as if you experienced one as well!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Dear Pat,

I also collect them.:D My favorite sets are various Daimyo sets. They are actually made in Thailand and the main U.S. Distributer/Dealer is Ted Deddins of Ted Toys.:)

Hi Steven,

I am glad to know that you, too, collect the Monarch Regalia figures. I think they are absolutely beautiful. I know what you mean about the Daimyo sets. They are very special.

I purchase my figures from Ted Deddins. However, I believe that Michigan Toy Soldiers and Le Petit Soldat have carried them in the past. I do not know of any other U.S. distributors.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I saw a bunch of them at the west coaster I think. They were beautiful. We continue now to the thread "What I got for Christmas" I thank you!

Hi Guys,

Boy is it ever great to be home! I had Christmas in New England at my folks and it was great but they have a dial up system and the email is so slow that I couldnt even open photos from friends. But that not withstanding Sanat was really good to me with the following sets:

Britains Indian Trumpeters in State Dress for the Durbar
British Army Trumpeters in State Dress
Marlboroughs Warriors on Stilts

My sister gave me a very nice surprise set from the VC Series, Defending the Colours! All I can say is if you havent seen them then I have to tell you they look awesome the painting is fantastic! I will be jumping into this series with some gusto! I am really looking forward to the Saving CPT Webb set even more!

Hope you all had a great season and Happy New Year to all

Dave

Hi Guys,

It was a really good Christmas and I actually received another set that was a little late in arriving so it was a nice gift to myself. The 10th Jat Infantry from Marlboroughs Durbar offerings. I'll have to post some pictures on one of the Durbar sites. I especially like the Rao of Kutch's Warriors on Stilts they are without a doubt one of the more interesting Durbar sets.

Hope everyone got what they were looking for.

All the best

Dave

My girl boughht me over $1,000 in Crusaders and Saracens for Christmas - looks like I have to get married now. :D

Ron

Brad

She is a peach - and likes the hobby. She has bought me a curio cabnet for my office for my Birthday tomorrow. Lucky Guy - I tell you :D

Ron

Ron,

You are indeed a lucky guy, but then again arent we all because if they didnt like the hobby they would probably find a way to make it difficult for us. Still, any gal that will drop a grand on Crusaders and Saracens for her guy is a keeper!

All the best

Dave
