My favourite tank as well, this little beauty would have hooked me also if I had not run into the Ancient Egypt series first, cheers, Robin.

I saw an ad in Toy Soldier magazine for King & Country UK and noticed they were located in the same town as me (Fareham) in the UK. I gave them a call and ended up visiting them to view a few sets. At the time, they were still running the business from the spare bedroom with boxes piled high. This was in 1999 I think.
Anyway, I ended up getting some Stalingrad Germans (WS06, WS11) and by the end of the year I had most of the Stalingrad Germans and Russians! I was fortunate in that the Neville's were always very welcoming and I could view sets before buying. I then started on early Normandy, more Germans, AK, Naps, Iwo Jima, Bulge, Crusaders, Berlin, WW1, Crimea, RAF and more recently the WW1 planes and sets.....
since the Neville's moved and expanded the operation to Durham (a good 5 hour drive away), I've visited twice and it is great to see the range, displays and scale of operation, compared to the early days. Although I have very fond memories of those early visits to the Neville residence!
As Elvis once said, 'Regrets, I've had a few':
1. Not getting the early Dickens sets which always impressed me when I saw Sue Neville's collection in their hallway!
2. Not getting the early winter 88. what was I thinking?!
3. Not getting the early AK 222
4. Not buying EVERYTHING on their 1999 price list!
I can't bring myself to pay over the odds for older rare sets, but I suppose I'm lucky to have the early sets I did get. It's every bit as exciting now as it was then. A bit more 'instant' with the world wide web and a busier release schedule, but still amazing when you hold those new figures and vehicles to study them for the first time.....
Thanks

Following on from my last post, here is an image of the K&C UK price list from early 2000. Now who would like a time machine to go back and purchase some of these early rare sets at these prices?!

se early rare sets at these prices?!

I had been collecting FOV vehicles for a number of years but i was always disappointed in their figures so one day at work (when i wasn't busy of course) i did a search on toy soldiers and the name K&C came up. I was amazed at the detail on the figures and the vehicles looked awesome but i had a dilemma as there was a difference in scale. I ummed and arrred for a while about whether i should get a few figures and vehicles but i ended up saying bugger it, they look to good so i'll grab some. That was 2 years ago and now i have a room full of K&C! {eek3}

Never looked back though and im very happy i stumbled onto K&C even though it was at FOV expense!

My story goes like this- A really nice and knowledgeable dealer in Stroudsburg Pa known as Mike Russo operating as Stockade Miniatures sold me Yanks 03 and subsequently all the DD 1-45, WS 8-42, cherry picked AWI sets and scenic pieces for several years. Great guy would talk your ears off about how wonderful King and Country was and then <<POOF>>> he's no longer a dealer. Pretty wild story really.

A similar story. I work near Stroudsburg, Pa, and would drive downtown for lunch or cut through town to get around a traffic jam on the highway. On one of these ventures back in 2007, while at a traffic light, I turn left down a side street, I see a large American Flag outside a shop window, then spot some militaria in the window, so I decide to stop in. Here comes a very nice welcoming guy from behind his counter... with no pressure he asks 'do you need any help?' We start talking about the militaria he has displayed, then WW2, and he explains his dad was a medic in the Pacific. I collect Japanese militaria, so a great conversation ensues covering the pacific war. I then walk around the store to look at his display cases of TS, I spot an American Jeep with three figures and a dog that sure looks like Patton. Mike provides the details of the set and the K&C product. It was obvious he knew TS and K&C. I bought that Patton Jeep set as my first K&C set and now have over four display cases full of TS, approximately 80% K&C. Now most of my spare income goes to TS not militaria. Oh yeah, I also know Mike doesn't carry K&C any longer, but you should check out his Soldiers of the World line. Yeah, I am hooked on K&C and it's great. The only concern I have is where do I store all of the boxes? ^&grin

I fell over and hit my head in front of a toy soldier shop and K&C is all I saw. But I am ok now . Just having fun and I still like a lot of K&C and always look forward to the new releases. Simmo.

Bought the LAH standard bearer in '01 I believe. Hooked ever since, Mostly Germans, and most all of the Confederates as well. But....How do you guys feel about the $44.00 per soldier price now? It may be time for ME to take a break. I think you should be able to get 4 figures for $100.00, but thats just me.

Hopefully prices do stabilize. Most would agree we all buy with disposable income. The positive is the enjoyment
That each new purchase brings makes it all well worth it. !
