English Civil War would be my choice. No manufacturer is doing that period either.

I had a PM a while ago about an ECW range but because I emptied my inbox at the weekend I have it no longer. However, I think it said that Alexanders Toy Soldiers are producing a gloss ECW range at some point. May have that wrong but I'm sure someone will confirm.

Traditionaly the old gloss figures were painted with gloss paint but I think most makers now use matt and then paint a gloss laquer over the top, I no we do.
I think though that when people are talking about matt figures they generaly expect more detail to be painted not just a matt finish. For example with a gloss figure the creases on cloths will be caught by the natural light, but with matt most of the shadows will have to be painted on.

Thanks - that does make sense then if a manufacturer declines to sell a figure with a paint job that does the firm no credit.

Thanks for the info. Just checked these out - quite a large range already and some nice sets.
