interesting this the King Tut tour coming to the UK.

We have sold the Egyptian range twice over to two collectors because of it. Normally the range is sold only as bits and bobs.

Look out for my Front door display at Hamleys after the 10th Jan 2008! the whole Egyptian range (hopefully) will be on display.

Can't wait to get my hands on Cardigan slashing at that unfortunate Russian gunner, also the guy with the lance through him.Worth every penny;)

I've just voted for AE.
I'd like to see more (well, any) action warrior poses together with other nations from around 10,000BC. As per Combats excellent suggestion he made elsewhere....Trojan War, anybody? :):)
Cheers

Welcome back Harry. We missed you.

Why thank you Louis. The ban was my own fault. Won't happen again - yeah, a public brawl I mean.
:):):rolleyes::rolleyes:;)
BTW, I lied, there's no names in my ignore list. I truly believe everyone's input has value, even fantasy ones.
Cheers

Strategos,
No offence meant mate, but Leonidas is a current offering by Conte.
Alexander the Great - Maybe
Evzones vs Turks 1821 - Very limited appeal. Maybe a good choice for one of the glossy manufacturers
Evzones vs Italians 1940 - As an FOB add-on, possibly, but I can't see it happening.
Evzones vs LAH 1941 - Again, as an FOB add-on, possibly, but I can't see it happening either.

Cretans 1941 - This is the only one that I see as having slightly more than limited appeal, but its like the French Resistance that I would like to see being produced - It doesn't have the potential to be a big seller IMO. Sure, they would be great to display along with the FJ range, but unless they were to be fairly generic and could double up as resistance fighters elsewhere in Europe (Yugoslavian Partisans maybe) then I think the sales figures would be disappointing.

All this is just my opinion of course.
Cheers

Interesting that the American Civil War is currently running second in the poll. I would be very interested in collecting this series but all the new figures are so........ well inactive! What can you do with them? put them on a shelf I suppose with all of them just looking at each other.

So come on you Neville's shake the Hong Kong man's tree, show him the poll and give us ACW nuts some Yank & Reb figures in Hollywood action poses, afterall it was the bloodiest war fought on American soil but you wouldn't think so by viewing the current K&C figures. They appear to be all on parade waiting for a brass band to come along!
Oh! God don't tell Mike that or we might get trumpets and drums in the next releases.

How am I going to say this ... I'll buy more Napoleonics if Andy makes more Napoleonics.

More precisely... the NAPs (and to an extent the AWI line or the Mexicans in Alamo) calls for troops in lines, columns & squares. These can be more realistically re-created if figures at the ready, shooting, loading or advancing were released with variations in small details ... eg. with hats or no hats, with bandaged limbs, different angled heads or limbs, torn clothings etc etc.

Yes K&C has done this before .... but I believe they can do more of it. It also encourage multiple buys of the same fig ... for eg. lets take a shooting figure, I buy 3 and I start to feel that the firing line is too rigid or fake. Now if I was able to mix the same pose with 3 other variations ... I may be tempted to have up to 6 of each of the poses, giving a realistic firing line of 24.

Also more of the artillery gun pieces could be released individually ... to go with gunners in action, wounded or running away. Same goes with unmounted horses in differing colors ... to mix with dismounted troopers.

In either case, I believe that it can also help expand the range, at lower unit production costs compared with moulding completely new figures ... helping to keep prices in check.

Ther were no nations around 10,000 B.C!

Sorry Harry, I know you did not mean to post that but I just could not help it:)

On ACW: these figures, to me, are just excellent, personally I don't care that much if their poses are action or parade, but I believe plenty of action is coming up:D. If you want an action diorama well, you need action poses, but why not a parade/waiting diorama? I believe, from what I've read and seen on video/TV documentaries, etc... that waiting and standing around has always been a great part of a soldiers life, even at war, so these poses are surely as realistic as any others. I also have seen some action poses, from some manufacturers, that look so weird that to me they seem to come out of some cheap horror movie. In such cases I prefer classic poses all the time. Just a thought, I do respect different opinions or tastes... :p

Quite right to point my error out Bobby Lee. A slip of the keyboard I guess. 10,000BC ?....Whatever. What I probably meant was City States :):)

I also respect others opinions, but the exam question on this thread is "What range would you collect more of if changes were made to your liking". And ACW is still currently lying in 2nd place. Now if you swing over to the other K&C poll thread "What is (are) your favourite K&C Range" and ACW is currently joint last on a pitiful 3.13%. Now it just maybe me but doing the maths by using the statistics tells me that wouldbe K&C ACW collectors would increase if "changes were made to their liking" now flying in the face of adversity does that mean they are not keen on the current static poses? If they are not keen on them as the stats reflects a good guess maybe, in line with my opinion, give us some action poses.

You are absolutely right about a soldiers life being a lot of standing about, but using that statement as a criteria for a diorama of maybe a few hundred figures standing at ease just looking at each other across a field sounds awfully boring to me. But of course that is just my opinion- hence my original post.

Hi UK Reb,
You make good points. The few hundred soldiers looking at each other point is a pretty compelling one:rolleyes: I guess it all depends on what you want to do with your soldiers. At the moment I have no room for large dioramas. I also voted for ACW on this poll, but because it's just a starting series, we need the bluecoats too and some horses might need improvement. But I guess the majority of K&C fans would go with you on this.

Good to talk ( well «writalk»... ) with you.
Happy collecting from Portugal,
Paulo Mendes

Doug,

I couldn't find this range on Bill Sagers' website. Have you any more info on it, as I'm definately interested? :)

Simon

I was obviously thinking of Raquel when I wrote that post...:eek::eek:. Its a typo I'm afraid and its only taken 2 days for me to notice it.:eek: Ummm...it ought to have been 1000BC, or thereabouts (of course).
But despite my shame and embarrassment, I still think its a great idea for a range of figures.

Hi Paulo

As you will see from my dio I personally would have little interest in parade figures.
However, reflecting on your post some ACW collectors might prefer a smaller display of a group of Rebs at ease talking/observing to a Union group, especially Officer Corps. Afterall the majority of them knew each other from their West Point days and the 1846 Mexican War.
Likewise good to talk and discuss with you.
Bob
