What was the Delhi Durbar 1903? (1 Viewer)

Yes, that is definitely the best picture of the elephant of Mysore. I have a picture of the guards with the unique spears. I bought it from the British Library (it is a digital copy), and it shows these men in the Retainers Review. It can be seen emblem carriers and lancers as well. Can't wait to make them too :)

Hi Ana

Thanks for sharing the photos of the Hyderabad finials - definitely three!

You will probably have seen the attached photo of the Mysore elephant but I thought I would share as it is my favourite!

Best wishes

Hi Guys!

Finally, the State Elephant of Cooch Behar is ready, and looking awesome. It was an absolute pleasure to make it and paint it. The group is very colorfull in person but, as usual, I don't feel that my pictures are making it justice. Sorry for that.

Also, I made a new set of lining troops. There were only a couple made and we need to cover all the elephants' line. These guys are from Chandni Chawk, set 502, the 20th Brownlows Punjabis, lining troops, Delhi Durbar, 1903

I'll be posting photos of the Making Of soon.

Take care you all,

Ana

Congratulations Ana on these new wonderful editions to your superb range of toy soldiers! Your attention to detail and the fantastic vibrant colours are always a delight to see. I look forward to seeing pictures of the making process. Best wishes

Thank you for sharing the pictures Ana - always fascinating to see how your masterpieces come to life!

Hi Ana, thanks again for sharing the pictures showing the making process. How long does it usually take for you to complete a new elephant from design, molding, casting and finishing the painting process?

Hello Ana,
I am following this thread from the first posting, but your work still keeps surprising me - very interesting. Have you ever tried embossing metal sheets? It is very good on delicate patterns.

Hi Wolfgang,

Thanks! Yes, we've tried embossing metal before, a couple of our oldest elephants were made that way. It is difficult to attach the metal sheet to the elephant clothes since it has waves and the metal is not that thin. This is mainly because weve tried with thinner plates but then the casting does not copy the accuracy of the pattern. It needs to have certain volume for the clothes to show the embroidery after casting and painting.

With the years I've been leaning more towards the hand made pattern. The photoedged design is a bit too 'cold', it looks machine made for me :)

Ana, is that a bell hanging from the ladder of the new elephant?

Hi guys,

It's beginning to be time to decide about the following elephant. It is so difficult to decide, each one has details to fall in love with. But I already chose the next two ones. They will be the State Elephant of Sirmur this September, and the State Elephant of Tehri by April 2023. Here is a photo of both (Sirmur in front)

Aren't they beautiful ;) ?

Hi guys - I will be posting photos of the new elephant and other sets later today. Just wanted to let you know that I am at the Chicago show, and that I do not have the usual room. I am at #4215.

I'll be in touch,
