What was the Delhi Durbar 1903? (1 Viewer)

continues the Sehr and Mukalla list

29 Africans and musicians
64 Footmen with Arab musicians
12 Mounted irregulars

As you can also see, the list in the program is not accurate in some cases. The camel riders are not mentioned within the list of participants, nor is mentioned an elephant. At least one must have been there since the state elephant was in the Main Procession.

Hi Ana,

If they ever invent time travel I know where I am going and with about a million mega bites on my camera! Love this Amazing procession!!!!

Dave

2 Led horses

37 Heralds, orderlies and spearmen

15 Elephants with attendants

Check that, in this picture and the next one, you can see the horsemen with umbrellas at the back. This means that the order on the program was not the right one in some cases.

I don't have pictures of the led horses nor the heralds. If anyone has something it'll be appreciated :)

Gwalior was one of teh states with more elephants. This meant that it was one of the wealthiest and more important states.

Next, Indore. Stay tuned.

I only have 3 photos that mention Bhopal in their tittle, but I haven't confirmed at all if they belong to that State or not. Here they are, but have in mind that they might be quite mistaken.

In this photo you can see the 2 state carriages behind the big carriage drawn by elephants. Behind them, the state elephant and the rest of the elephants (next post)

This photo is also one of my last acquisitions. I love it because the Baby Elephant and the Rewa Executor can be seen behind. It feels great to be able to confirm the identity of a group :)
Check the detail below

Wow, that was a lot of stuff for one state. Next, Orchha state

A detail from the first picture (again, a priceless digital copy bought from the British Library). Check what a lovely group of winds on the second elephant :)

3.jpg
Another detail, emblem and flag, both elephants absolutely tempting to make

4.jpg
Same group of elephants from a different spot, excellent panoramic

If you are wondering where our Orchha infantry set is, well, I must say that there's been a change about it. We made them upon a photograph from Gertrude Bell who said that they were from the Orchha State. We learnt later that they were from Kishangarh. So I'll add them when it's Kishangarh's turn :)

Next, Datia.

Ana

I've always loved the Rewa group - They are in the center of my own little Durbar!!

The following state was Datia

Next state, Dhar

Ana

7 - Dhar
44 Footmen
2 Elephants with 6 attendants and 10 Orderlies
14 Guards
15 Irregular horse

I only have a picture for this state, a wonderful one. It's the state elephant, with the attendants and orderlies. I'd love to make this elephant but it's quite complex. Eventually I'll solve it, but I'm going to focus on other elephants for the moment.
