What would Forum Members like to see in the Conquest of America range in the future? (1 Viewer)

I saw your post but I don’t think he’s indicated his approach. Due to the poses of both the Aztecs and Spanish figures, it doesn’t look like it will be when Cortes met Moctezuma.

It definitely appears to be a combat scenario. At some point soon, the selection of figures that John decides to produce would seemingly have to relate to some specific event. If there are mounted figures, for example, that would suggest a battle outside the city of Tenochtitlan. There was apparently at least one female conquistador Maria de Estrada. She would make for an interesting personality figure.

I asked on a related thread, but is there any indication whether John's Aztec line is related to any specific battle or event? Or is it just a generic line? It seems like in most past instances that John's figures are associated with a specific battle. In terms of boats, there were some wild melees involving canoes and smaller Spanish built brigantines on the lakes of Tenochtitlan. There is a great illustration in the recent Osprey book:

I've spoken to John often and at length but I didn't get any indication of a specific battle. Just the invasion and destruction of the Aztec Empire.
I think that John will do some scenics but not sure about Spanish brigantines or Aztec Canoes but wouldn't be surprised if he did.
The Aztecs are selling well and Conquistadores are coming soon so if the series stays popular who knows?

When you look at those Spanish brigantines they look as though they could be assembled in three parts to reduce the shipping size. I'm not sure of the overall dimensions but something along those lines would be interesting.

Scenics would be interesting. I wonder what they might be. Structures in Tenochtitlán?

There is probably a size constraint on most structures. Maybe a scene depicting the tops of a temple. The battle for the Temple Yopico would make a great one. Cortes and his men charging to the top and throwing down priests and idols. Wooden siege towers to get through the hostile city streets. The actual events are so fantastic it is almost hard to realize they are real. An amazing and sad culture death struggle.

Even though I'm not collecting this series a brigantine might have to come my way.

Richard...

the last couple of times I talked to him...he mentioned the city canals/aqueducts and Aztec canoes...they were agrarian so they depended heavily on a water source...it might be an idea he is working on...

I have already made a large diorama table with a beach and ocean/water...I did not make any canals...^&grin...

on the buildings...I have been bugging him about maybe 2-3 small small structures for diorama and picture purposes...something with an Aztec design on it for a backdrop on pictures...

I have also talked to him about a landing barge...but you know John as you talk to him a lot...he's so polite...he never says no...^&grin...he just says he will put it on his list...

I have no idea what's coming...but I'm getting it...

A causeway would be a great scenic, w/ some acompaning Aztec boats to hold attacking warriors.
The causeway could be done in several sections, with one being broken down into the water.
A major night battle took place on a causeway as the Spanish and their allies fled from Tenochtitlan after their first failed attemp to hold the city.
- A very near run thing. The Aztecs came very close to putting an end to Cortez and company that night.

:)
as they say in beauty contests : " A world in peace "

Mike,
I have no doubt that some amazing scenics will be forthcoming. This series will be John's most colorful and unique so get your diorama table ready and please share photos.

See post 4 for prototypes of Tlaxcalans arriving next year. A lot of space is going to be required!

https://forum.treefrogtreasures.com...Chicago-Toy-Soldier-Show!&p=834706#post834706

Our requests are being answered immediately! Wow!
Space is on our minds too. We may have to box a set or two for this display. But it's worth it.
Love the new Tlaxcalans & the new Aztecs are needed! Love the wild Standards!
Hope to see the Conquistadores soon so they can face the onslaught!
Glad to hear the range will go on for a long time.

Thanks again to John & Julie

I would like to see a small non hostile Spanish boat/barge/ship...
with a landing party...
not necessarily the large scale of the Quebec landing barge...
or with 12 rowers...
but something simple and on a much smaller scale...
maybe 8-12 figures disembarking ashore...

very cool & Jenkins is great at this stuff!

Since Aztec canoes would look brilliant, the Brigantine would be a hit if it was done correctly

First, sorry to catul for co-opting his thread - ours is redundant. But I'd like to see it stay alive anyway.
Though we have sizeable collections from all of the big manufacturers Treefrog carries & more, we are Big Jenkins fans these days. Particularly this range.

So: seeing the prototypes from the Chicago Show (see Treasure Hunt thread), what else do people want to see?
Boats would we cool, but hard for us to display. Canoes would be easier.
Basically, our requests boil down to a canoe or two, an overthrown idol, & some mastiffs. Oh, & more Indians. Anything else we want is bound to come out anyway!
Thanks to John Jenkins for this superb range.
