What's next? Some new pics on the site.... (1 Viewer)

Ken's prediction would probably be spot on IF the facings were yellow...but alas they are not yellow, they are buff. :)

I think we'll preview the full regiment/release as the "sneak peek" in our newsletter which should be sent out next week sometime.

Buff Facings - a huge clue. The 52nd Foot had buff facings but I don't think they had bastion lace loops . . . . ummmmmmmm, back to the drawing board of research . . . . .

If Bastion Loops and Buff Facings, then I think it is the 22nd. My eyes and/or monitor are not good enough to actually discern bastion loops on the First Legion Home Page, but willing to believe.

Just trolling the fife and drum web page, link below:

Buff regiments = 3, 14, 22, 27, 31, 40, 52, 62.

Only one with bastion loops was the 22nd.

Totally clueless if this makes sense as it regards Lexington/Concord or Bunker Hill.

OK, a quick look at the OOB's for Lexington/Concord and Bunker Hill - no 22nd regiment. The 22nd spent most of the war on guard duty in NYC.

Conclusion: Not the 22nd.

From what I have found, the 52nd Foot was the only British Regiment with buff facings that was actively involved at Bunker/Breed's Hill. The Center companies of the 5th and 52 were brigaded together and attacked the colonial breastworks and fleches that were protecting the left flank of the Colonial redoubt. However, the 52nd had straight lace loops and not bastion lace loops. I believe the 52nd and the 27th werer the only regiments with buff facing that served actively in the 1776 New York campaign.

The only British Regiment that had buff facings and bastion loop lace was the 22nd Foot.

The 3rd Foot was nick named "The Buffs" because of their uniform facing.

British Regiments serving in America during the AWI that had buff facings were; 3rd, 14th, 22nd, 27th, 31st, 40th, 52nd, and 62nd.

I am now belieivng that the next FL British release will be of the 52nd Foot . . . . . . . . if so, I do hope the lace around the buttonholes are reasonably correct, however I think this for me would be a moot point since the lace detail on my 5th Foot Grenadiers is so small it is difficult to actually tell with the "naked eye" as to what kind of "loop" is actually present.

Well, this is great news. I was hoping we would see the preorder for this release soon, and with a once the reveal is made, the preorder can't be far behind. I'm excited for this, no matter which regiment turns out to be.

Hey Noah . . . is it next week yet :wink2: Sounds like its time to finish up the 5th Foot Grenadiers. Let's see . . . sneak peak within a week or so, perhaps pre-orders in late November early December, possibly delivery in late December early January . . . . This would make a nice end to 2011 and a great beginning for 2012 . . . .

Yeah, I wish it was next week already! It would be great to see these availible by Christmas, because I could use a First Legion AWI present. Maybe I should tell my wife now.....

I can't wait to see what is next!!! I see a lot of good guesses here. I'm wondering however, if we should shift our attention away from Bunker Hill and on to the next set of engagements in NY or NJ? Perhaps Matt is ready to move on with the next part of the war...........

Just a thought.

Mark, that is why I think the new regiment will be the 52nd Foot. They had the buff uniform facing. They were the only regiment at Bunker Hill with a buff facing and they fought side-by-side at Bunker Hill with the 5th Foot. Plus they were one of only two regiments that participated in the 1776 NY campaign that had the buff facing, the other regiment being the 27th. I will be very surprised if its not the 52nd . . . .
