Where is your home? (1 Viewer)

I have a request for my fellow collectors to add to what I believe is a positive part of this forum. I find it interesting and informative to know where the members of this forum are from.

Would those of you who have not identified your hometown and country, please do so. I think this will help us all to better understand each other. If we know where your home is, perhaps that will help us understand your words and thoughts.

These are the six steps for you to add your hometown information on every posting you will make and that you have made.

1. Click "FAQ" on the Tool Bar under the two Treefrog Logos.

2. In the “Under vBulletin FAQ” section, click “User Maintenance.”

3. Click the 4th line, “How can I change the information in my profile?”

4. Click “Edit your profile here.”

5. On the left “Control Panel,” click “Edit Profile.”

6. Fill in the “Location – Where you live” information in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom (city, state – city, province, country – city, country - etc.).

Thank you to those who are willing to do this.:) Michael

Have you ever run across a Charlie Harris there in Queensland, Australia he's a Train Driver and a well know railroad photographer. His branch of the Harris family like mine were sentenced to transport, Mine went to Georgia his to Australia. Their crime more than likely was that they were breathing English air.

Hi Chuck, Queensland is 2.5 times the size of Texas and also larger than Alaska, so my chances of running across Charlie, unless you tell me where he lives, would be rather slim :)

I know Queensland was big, but not that big. I've got his address on one my older computers. I have about 16 or 18 I never throw one away, I'll build a newer faster one and plan on going back retrieve data off of the old ones, but I never do. I still have my first home computer a 1982 Apple IIe and it still works. I am a pack rat.
I bet most toy soldier collectors are pack rats also. Maybe we run a poll on this subject.

Watch out for the kangaroo's Mate :p

And Western Australia is even bigger :) I only upgrade pc's when I have to, I bought my previous pc in 2001 when I needed a better version for my University studies. It was recently zapped by lightning so I've now upgraded to a new AMD Athlon 64 based system. The old pc will eventually be upgraded as a spare for the kids homework. They were meant to use the new pc, but they find it difficult to get me off it. I bought them a second hand Armada laptop last year but it tends to overheat in our warm climate and goes slow after a few hours.

I actually don't like much clutter so I trade or sell excess models and figures at swap meets etc. If I counted my time and fuel I guess I'd be loosing money on every deal but I just enjoy getting out and meeting fellow collectors.

Gentle Friends,

I have not yet edited my profile to include my location. The advantages to others on the forum of listing my location seem obvious to me. However, before I do so, I would like to know if anyone sees any disadvantages/hazards to listing it.

Thanks,

Pat

Only if you're afraid that one of us is going to come to your place and will try to steal your soldiers! :p

I agree with Pat, I do not see the need for anyone to post his exact location.
Certainly that information could be provided if a member wished simply by contact via e-mail or phone.

Although I have where I live listed, I don't see any advantage to so listing it. I think our personality comes throught without identifying where we live, especially where I live is not where I'm from: the City (if you have to ask....).

I really do not see what it would hurt to list your location. After all, we are not talking about your exact street address or even the city you live in. For the U.S., the state would be great. For those living in other countries, the country itself would be enough. What on earth would be the harm?

GOOD POINT!!!!!

Yeah guys. Its not like posting your location is extending an invitation to view your massive K&C collection. That could be dangerous.

I decided to list Australia in lieu of Queensland as I doubt most people would know where it is. Btw I've already mentioned that Queensland is larger than any US state but did you Australia has the largest city in the world?

I must admit I knew that Queensland was in Australia, but not WHERE in Australia. My wife and I plan on visiting both Australia and New Zealand in the next couple of years, then maybe I won't be so ignorant of about your great country.
