You can see below a table made by Thomas Gunn and another one made by King and country......But, it is the same table, only the colour is different! So, who is the copycat?^&grin

TG are doing a lot of copying lately, or maybe they call it a 'Homage' like Quentin Tarantino does when he copies film scenes over and over for his movies :wink2:

No I'm sure they just used the same source like an Osprey publication which was no doubt copied from an ancient publication long out of copyright ^&grin

It's not a unique table. Both companies could of seen photos with the same kind of table in them.

Copyright on published materials lasts quite a long time (somewhere between 70-95 years) so I doubt copyright expired.

That being said, it’s a table. Nothing really unique about it.

Maybe time frames are different where you live, 'ancient' in Australia is considered longer than 70-95 years.

It would appear Poppo made his comment based only on photos. My comments based on having both the tables in front of me.

Length of table : TG is about 0.6mm longer

Width of table : TG is very slightly wider

Height of table : TG a few mm shorter

Top of table : both have a design which is timber but totally different in that KC has 5 "pieces" of wood and TG 4.

Table legs : TG legs are further apart than KC one.

Top of legs : on the KC table there is no plank of wood between leg tops as there is on TG one.

Most of the points I mention can not be noticed by looking at photos alone.

yea...

they both have 4 legs...
an underneath brace and a top...

but they don't even look like the same table...

The 70-95 year period refers to the length to which copyright protection applies, not the date of publication; this length applies to works made after 1978. Nonetheless, works published between 1923 and 1978 are protected for 95 years. Anything before 1923 is in the public domain. Australia generally follows US rules but there are some exceptions.

Yeah, but other than those six differences, it's the same table.

So much for Poppo's career as a police detective...…………………..

Are you guys sure? Because I have several Tiger tanks that look like copy's from different manufactures. I was wondering the same thing about them.

Brett is a funny guy :wink2:

I remember years ago when I used to collect the finely detailed prebuilt 1/72 scale Dragon Armor tanks, most of which I purchased from Brett's previous shop, or was it the shop before that. Anyway, Brett suggested I check out his large King & Country range, especially the then New 'Special Limited' Edition 'Winter Tiger'. Well Brett, I said, those figures look nice with the little fire etc but the tank does look a bit small compared to the figures, what is it made from?

Pollystone he says {eek3} Well I guess I could put that in my rock garden I said laughing at such a strange material for 'model' tanks. 15 years latter, who's laughing now, Brett....and Andy ^&grin

Just saw this thread and my immediate reaction was...who cares...……….

Obee,
As a furniture mover I can say that K&C's Knights of the Round table table and chairs set is a back breaker compared to the two tables being discussed{sm3}.

George,
You have heard of New Scotland Yard no doubt. I am an founding member of the not so famous Cabinetierri who investigate furniture crimes. I declare this crime a report false.

OzD,
On behalf of Andy and myself, you are welcome:salute:: Hope you kept the Special Ed Winter Tiger as one of most sought after items when new collectors hunting for older items.

I've purchased Two maybe Three Special Edition Winter Tiger sets since then, sold them off to collectors that were chasing them. Still one of the best set of German 'At Rest' Figure sets around.
