Who wants more Axis figures? (1 Viewer)

I agree. They do look battle weary.

I think they could at least use some armoured transport like this CT15a Armoured Truck. Over 4000 of these "beauties" were made by Chevrolet Canada as a replacement (and supplement) to the White Scout Cars and M3 Halftracks in service with Canadian and British Forces. It had a short wheelbase, carried 8 troops and was highly capable over cross country for a wheeled vehicle. It could reportedly, even climb a 60% grade (better than some tanks).

This is one of my personal favourites.

PS: As a side note.....A few of these trucks "masquaraded" as German armoured trucks in the movie "Battle of Britain" (you have to be quick to see them)

Great post and pics. Andy is a great businessman, (as well as a superb craftsman) will Commonwealth troops sell? Are there enough of us who will buy?

Okay, we are getting away from the axis here a little, let me rephrase this.. What axis troops would you like to see? Also, for the people who dont want to see more, i suggest they check out the OSPREY Books and other fine selections,, There uniforms are cool and blow away any of the uniforms of the Commonwealth or US troops!! So lets see or Axis and parade troops!!

Who cares if their uniforms are cool looking? Unless they have bullet holes in them, I am not particularly interested in Axis uniforms. For those of us who collect WWII items to honor the greatest generation, the purile fascination with Nazi stuff is at best distastefull.

I agree Louis it is one thing to be fascinated with the German military of WWII but it is another to be intrigued by the Nazis. Speaking for myself I really enjoy Collecting both Axis and Allies since I had family that fought on both sides during WWII. My grandfather on my mothers side was part of the Wehrmacht and by no means was he a Nazi but he believed in fighting for his country and defending the ones he loved.

As far as who has the coolest uniforms I personally couldnt care less and don't select my pieces that way. However if someone is really into that aspect I cannot blame them since everyone here has there own reasons for what they collect.

Call me shallow Oz but I'm one of the many people that DO collect something purely because they like the look of it. The Germans won most of their battles because of their excellent training in tactical matters supported by excellent weapons systems.

However the allies won the war because of superior strategic ability, better military intelligence and more attention to logistical matters. But the MAIN reason the allies won was because they did not brutalise people in occupied countries or force them to change their way of life. Nazi's were known to be a prejudiced, intolerant mob of thugs that forced their beliefs onto others. Need we say more than that.

It's only time that separates the Nazi's from the rest of the oppressors we collect, in effect they all just wanted someone else's land and resources.

Well said Louis.I only collect German toy soldiers because they are the enemy pure and simple.I have no fascination with the Nazi's in anyway shape or form.Better uniforms or not they were still scum.

Its certainly difficult to argue with that!

I think this thread has taken an unintentional turn of direction. I haven't seen anything here that would indicate any glorification of Nazi ideals, just a query about whot collectors would like to see coming out in relation to Axis figures.

So, whilst camo garbed troops have been done to death in the past, you could pose the question, what is available to a collector if they were to start collecting today. In terms of SS and similar camo'd troops, not much. Whilst many members here have been collecting a while and probably have a fair bit of this stuff, there's not much still available on the primary market.

K&C are addressing this with their latest release with some camo on the Heer troops, as well as providing the early SS troops. I'm always up for something well posed, sculpted and painted. I like the direction K&C are taking with their sculpts been a little more...er...adventurous and more suited to dios.

If I were going to choose an area, other than more FJs, how about some well equipped Panzer Grenadiers, something usable for Summer Russian Front as well as Normandy etc.

This is a difficult one. I collect quite a few German sets. I like collecting the AK range because I like that whole desert theme and I like the look of the German vehicles and figures together.
I also have collected a lot of fallschirmjager figures in both toy soldier scale and 1/6th scale because I really like their camouflage smocks, uniforms and equipment. Plus i'm very interested in their battles at Eben Emael, Crete and Cassino etc.
On the flip side I collect British and American paras in all scales too as I like the airborne theme, their equipment and the D-Day, Market Garden scenarios.
Eveyone has their own reasons for collecting but a big factor surely has to be the coolness factor of how great these things look.

Well they can't say we aren't a well balanced forum with seemingly Anti-British, Anti-American and Anti-German members ;) :D

I think this is a very good point.A big driver in what i collect is the Battle in question.D Day/Bulge/Cassino/Crete/EL Alamein are very interesting to study and this spills over into your collecting hobby. Its the same as when i was a youngster, all those plastic Airfix figures helped fill me with interest in the battles.

I hope I wasn't the one that got us off in this direction. If I was, my apologies. We've debated the issue ad infinitum so I don't see any benefit in having another one. At any rate, let's get this thread back to where it was: what people want.

I think that if we collect Germans or Allies, we are not automatically related to then, we just like the Military saga of WWII. But in the same time we can’t deny what happened on that time.

But I think that we really need is artillery, and more armour, doesn’t matter if is Allies (Russians armour for example...:D) or Axis....

I'd love to see more artillery, any nation any front.:)

Thank you Simon for putting this thread back on the rails. :)

I have to agree with the request for more artillery (for all nations). I would also like to see more specialized troops. I think HB is on to something with their recent annoucement of radio teams, medics, engineers, flame throwers etc. I would like to see more plain uniforms without camo anything as well.

That is easy, I want them all and a safe place to put them.

Sometimes we do go off on tangents don't we? some seem to like the debating. I like to "bait" myself;)

We certainly do tend to go off on tangents and I like a good debate as much as anyone. But we have covered this ground so many times together with other debates over what ifs etc in military history that it's even starting to bore me.

The manufacturers threads are intended to discuss their figures and vehicles.
I really thinks it's best to keep contentious posts away from the manufacturers section entirely. If some members have a problem with what another member has posted I reckon it's best at this stage in the game that they pm the person or start a thread in the historical or misc thread to discuss the matter there. These are just toy soldiers we're talking about.

Yep i agree.I really liked the early war K&C Germans and would love to see more non camo troops.I also agree with Oz,we do go off in a tangent a bit,but its often just because of the passionate interest we have in the subject.

As for Artillery what would be the most wanted do you think?.

I think for the German side, the famous 88mm in different fronts (colors) still the best and the most piece of Artillery used by the Germans, for the Russian I will suggest the 76mm M1942
