who would change from K&C to first legion (1 Viewer)

Check out some of Rons cabinet displays, superb.

Rob

I agree but i still think displayed on glass or wood lacks a lot, personally i want the models/figures as close to looking like the real thing as possible, and on a realistic dio it brings the figures to life rather than a dull and boring look on plain glass/wood imo.

I just looked at the First Legion French Line Infantry and was blown away.

Pricey, but absolutely gorgeous.

I love how the bases can line up to each other and the variety of figures.

I own a lot of K&C Crusaders/Saracens, which I love.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

If $$$$$'s no problem, lol, buy them all.

Agree i dont think they are too pricey at the moment for the better quality your getting, although the mounted figures are a bit too pricey imo (although in the UK they are all too pricey) but i managed to get 16 french line figures at K&C prices so am well pleased, its worth looking around for secondry market peices.
Going by this thread i feel FL wont be competing too much with K&C although i'm sure they will have a good collector base providing they dont put the prices up anymore and out of reach for many.
I will be collecting both but will have to look at the secondry market where possible for FLs as overall they are better figures in scale, accuracy, realism and painting but prices will limit the amount.

Its certainly true a good dio can bring to life the figures on it,have seen some wonderful examples on here over the years.Although i'm a dyed in the wool WW2 guy,i think some of the best i've ever seen anywhere are UK Rebs ACW dio's,stunning action shots that really bring the scene to life.Must also mention Rods (Debrito)dio's.Wonderfully atmospheric shots that are both grim and enthralling.Myself i'm a display on shelves chap, but am about to dip my toe into a dio for the first time.Once i've finished and one hundred people have told me its ok(;)) i may just post a pic on here,am a little nervous considering the dozens and dozens of wonderful dio's that have been on here previous.

Still hope First Legion might release a WW2 range, would be good to see how the quality of their Naps translates into the later era.

Go for it they are not expensive to do yourself and you'll be amazed how it all goes together once you start putting the grass etc on.

Your opinions, I don't find display cabinets boring in the least. Personally I like to look at rows of tanks to see the different models. For me, a lot of time full dioramas have too much going on, but that's my opinion, I still appreciate them when I see them.

SO, before you call displays boring, etc and are critical of others, I think you have to say , to each his own, just because you like it one way, doesn't mean others will agree.

I think in general, we all appreciate all types of display, however, each chooses which one they like in their own way.

In all fairness TD, he did preface his comment with "Personally", which I think reasonably qualified the remark as his opinion, which as you note, is different than yours. Please let us not get so sensitive here that someone cannot express a contrary view without attaching all the polite qualifiers. Afterall just because someone finds the way you or I do something boring does not mean we are not free to do as we like and enjoy it just the same. To me that is not the same at all as being critical of others. There is more than enough to get upset about these days than to worry about such differences in point of view.:)

I agree, I think we are saying the same thing, I just seem to have read numerous replies from peter to several threads that are critical and saying the same basic idea. WHICH IS FINE, I just was saying, that it is to each his own, that boring to one is not to the other. I personally appreciate both displays. I just don't think that every reply made to every post needs to reiterate the same personal opinion?

Fair enough mate, I don't disagree and I am undoubtedly overly sensitive to perceived PC.:D

personally i find first legion to be a liitle to dark, kind of like collectors showcase in ww11.kc seems to have more life to them. fortunately for me when its comes to napoleonics i collect trophy and augment them with other gloss makers.

It sounds like you need to see them in person. Their colors are more restrained and hence representative but they are hardly dark and nothing like CS. K&C's colors are more bright and flashy.

Agree there, they're more accurate and realistic & crisp (for want of repeating myself :D) than dark. Excellent painting quality and better than CS by quite a distance

Thank you spit, it would be a very boring forum if we all agreed on everything and theres certainly nothing personnal in my comments

Can't make up my mind about CS.They have made some excellent vehicles like the 222 and Marder but i thought the Stugs were a let down. However this new armd car looks good. Also their figures have lost that horrible zombie quality they first started out with. Its a shame they are not the same size as K&C as their US Paras look quite good too.

First Legion Naps look very nice to me,some good poses in their British release. Also the new Samurai warrior looks superb, will be interesting to see if they dip their toe into WW2 at some point.
