I have gotten several questions on why did CAPITOLRON - the Darth Vader of Ebay (lol) - come on the forum and sell his Romans so Cheap ?

Well - To be honest - I could have listed everything - all Conte Romans - on Ebay with the $5.00 a figure as a starting price and see what sold and what larger bids would come in - but, I decided not to do that for one reason.

That reason is BROTHERHOOD !

I really could not believe that I had all these guys in my storage unit collecting dust and knew they would never get displayed again - due to lack of space. So my thought was to sell them cheap and give everyone a chance to add to their collection if this is something they wanted.

Granted it is easier to just list them here and not go through the Ebay hassle of posting and paying fees. However - Surely, you know that these figures would have sold more than $5.00 each on the Secondary Market. Maybe not all - but, most would have gone for higher.

This forum is a special place for me and I do enjoy most of you guys out there. It is fun to share our hobby with people who share the experience of the passion. I know - that I can brissle people sometimes - but, I am really a nice guy ... (lol) ... no really :D

So if I can return a favor - do a little something to help fellow collectors - then hey - its all good karma right ?

I am going to make it through the tough economy ahead and my collection will continue to grow. So the money invested is not a factor for me. I get my enjoyment out of my figures and then I let them go to collect something else - I really have to do this - due to space concerns and the fact that something better is always coming out !

Anyway - hope those who got their figures appreciate the effort on my part to contribute to the Brotherhood.

Cheers, Ron

Just remember Ron, they are YOUR figures. What you do with them is your business and no one else need be concerned. Sell, don't sell; buy, don't buy. Everyone has free will and can change the channel if they do not like the show. You know what they say about opinions... No explanations are necessary. -- lancer

Hello CapitolIron,

Your newly started thread is thought provoking to say the least.

Most collectors on this forum do have figures which they may wish to sell for one reason or another.

In my personal view, eBay has become increasing partial to buyers and leaving sellers out in the cold.

I shall not elaborate because the reasons are all out there, having appeared in several previous posts.

Having said that, I shall still log on to eBay just to buy "out of production" figures and "hard to find" sets.

Bottom Line: There is no greater satisfaction than to sell to an appreciative buyer, even at a modest price.

Regards, Raymond.

Thanks Glossman. Three cheers to you and Capitolron for your posts. I bought the Romans as a gift for my Uncle who has been a huge Spartacus fan for decades. Believe me he will treasure these figures. I could not have afforded them any other way. Thanks Capitolron. Regards, Larry.

You better believe it!! I would rather give a gift to someone who really appreciates it than make a profit from someone who doesn't share the passion. Of course I do believe there is a Southern conspiracy going on between Larry and Ron:rolleyes::p

Not so sure Nothern Virginia and D.C. can be considered part of the South anymore. Anyway we Airborne and SF Guys need to stick together. Larry.

Amen Brother! Sorry, couldn't resist. I came close to buying some of those Romans!

I too have given our friends on the forum good deals. It makes me feel good to give them items that they want and don't cost them an arm and a leg.

Good on you Ron. If you have any other $5.00 offers let me know. Spartans maybe? Panzer II's perhaps?

Fine gesture, I am just sorry I didn't beat Warlord HAHA, Seriously, it sounds like these Romans went to a great home.

Agreed. I feel better selling to someone on the forum even though I may have gotten more on ebay.

Hi Kurt,

The fact of the matter is that several members of the forum are active buying and selling on eBay for want of an alternative platform.

It does appear that this thread ie Collector Classifieds does permit the forum to be a trading platform.

However, this must surely be an "evolved" objective of this forum and a secondary one at that.

The views of other forum members on this would be welcome.

Best, Raymond.
