I thought this may make an interesting thread!:) I was just curious why Britain's collectors love the company so much? The reason I love W. Britain so much is because of the sculpting, paintjobs, and variety of figures. The sculpting in my opinion the best in the toy soldier industry, I love how Ken dedicates so much to the detail in the uniforms in historical accurracy. Second, I feel other companies make their figures far to buff, and muscular, while with Britain's I think they get the figures in excellent poses, when I think of soldiers, I think of 18-20 yr. old young men who don't have a perfect fit with their uniform, tired and slouched/tired after weeks of combat. Also, the paint jobs are the best also in my opinion, I like how Dave and Wendy use IMO, earthy colors, which give the great affect of fading after mulitple campaigns, while other companies use bright colors, which give the impression of 'clean' uniforms. The variety of figures they have is also another A+ in my book, as they have so much of a rich variety of history with the figures, and uniforms,. This is why Britain's is by far #1 in the industry, so I just wanted to take this time to say thanks to Richard, Ken, Dave and Wendy for all of their dedication to providing the best figures in the hobby!:)

Ever since I was 5 years old I have collected Britains and they have always been my favourite.

The were leaders when they made lead soldiers, leaders when they made plastic figures (some great innovative stuff and still commands ridiculous prices to this day) and now with their matte figures just superb !!

Lets hope future collectors get to celebrate 200 years of Britains :D :D :D

ditto my grandad got me, my brothers & my cousins all into britains at an early age they have always been my favourite brand the glossy pieces they have turned out always being great & since 1st gear have taken over they have just gone from strength to strength the redcoats being my all time favourite series from any company.

thank you richard, ken & all the other hard working people behind britains that have made it such a great company.

cheers Craig.

For me they simply are the best value for money, backed with originality and variety. The quality of sculpting is superb and I feel that, unlike some other companies, Britains responds to its consumers.

This leave the customer (atleast in my case) wanting more and more! :p

Dittos for all the above reasons: better historical accuracy in uniforms, long time favorites, best value for the money, great selection of poses. Plus - I personally feel that Wm Britain combat figures look like combat troops the way they are sculpted (rolled trouser cuffs, worn/torn uniforms) and painted (mud splatter, weather worn look). Some company's combat troops still look like they are on dress parade IMHO. Totally a Wm. Britain matte fan here.

I've always said a picture is worth a thousand words or better and here's one of the reasons along with many others that WBritain is so highly thought of by their collectors which I'm glad to be one of.....The Lt.

I like them for the same reasons above that you guys mentioned. Even though I collect other manufactures toy soldiers, W.Britain Toy soldiers have always been my personal favorites.

I enjoy many Toy Soldier Companies Products - Britains NOW - is one of my favorites in the Civil War. The new lines that have been produced are outstanding and their resurgence in this War of Northern Aggression caught all the other sleeping and have forced them to catch up !

Great figures - Great Price - Keep Up the GREAT WORK ! :D

As you can see with Ken and Ericka's posts that the people at Britain's are a class act. They really enjoy what they do and it comes through to the collecters.

I don't think any of us could disagree with those "thousand words" LT.

A really simple reason . . . availability. I know of toy stores that carry Britains and have them available for customers to see and buy. And once you see how well they're done, you become hooked.
(Other brands may be carried in specialty shops, but there are none around me that I'm aware of.)

To me they just kind of have class. I am new to the hobby and went in via my interest in history. When I first saw them I was blown away. Not only the figures but the tradition behind the name counts. I knew of Britains as a youngster from the detail range and even with them they were better than anything around.
When I made my first purchases of soldiers a bit over a year ago I purchased a AWI selection from another prominent manufacturer. While they were good I would have to agree with another member below. They were too perfect and wooden. I didn't like them compared to the WB AWI figures and sold them within a couple of weeks.
Even the presentation is great. I don't like storing boxes but the deep burgundy box makes for a classic impression.

I am a great fan of WB (btw my collection is 75% from another brand) because i like the attention in details (historical accuracy is paramount for me) and the life put in the poses..like Davout i bought my first WBritain too from the AWI range and where in other companies the British Regiments were without an identity (not always ), here we had the 80th , 17th , the Royal Irish, the 10th...for a fan of the British Army like me is wonderful to keep in my hands a figure and then take a book and look at its regiment's story..and then there's the Redcoats..

I applaud Richard Walker for keeping the price down!:) The idea of the clam shell back was pure genious!:D While other brands are selling 3 figures for $95, you can get three Britains figures for $75 and free shipping, if you buy from the best distributor in the world!;) Anyways I would rather buy 3 figures for $75 with IMO way better sculpts and paint jobs than $95 for the 'buff & clean' chaps (figures with a clean uniform and body builder bodies FYI).

Thanks again Richard, Ken, Dave, and Wendy working hard to provide us with the best figures in the hobby!:)

Quite simply... they are the frist name in toy soldiers.

I'll be 55 at the end of this year (God willing) and Britains have been the number one toy soldiers for all of my life. I will never forget the yellow jacketed Skinner's Horse Bengal Lancers I once had. Or later the Herald series Union and Confederate troops. Not to mention the cannons that actually fired a shell.

Those childhood memories for me are why I love Britains. :)

first really cool set i got was aged 5 or 6 and it was the britains detail 7th cavalry versus the indians, and a log fort made by some other manufacterer...long since disappeared but not forgotten:D The figures always seem to be full of character:cool:

Excellent and very familier memories. I am 56 and I still have some of the ACW Herald series. In the early '60's my parents went to Bermuda for vacation and on return presented me with a set of the Skinner's Horse of which you speak. I still have them on my shelf along with several of my father's Britains sets from his childhood in the '20's and '30's. Great figures and memories thanks to Britains. -- lancer

Here's an interesting question, what are your favorite Britain's figure(s) from a range or mulitple ranges...Here's my favorite from the ACW range, "Old" Peter with what looks like a excellent cigar in hand...Vick

PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE !!!

Actually when I get home I may take a snap of a few different figures from different series.
