Next armor question...looking for opinions on these 2 items for BOB. Which do y'all like best and why? Perhaps get them both? I am getting this urge recently to buy some armored vehicles. I like the looks of both of these actually, so maybe a better question is which one would you suggest getting first?

hi dave, when i bought the m-10 i thought k&c could'nt do much better then that tank, but low and behold when i got my chaffee it is even better detailed then the m-10,you really can't go wrong with either one,but my money would go eith the chaffee first....sammy

I really like the Chaffee. When I pay off all the armor that I have bought in the last three weeks the chaffee is on the list.

There is a lot of good in both models. I have a personal preference for the M24, primarily because I like the REAL M24. I have toys and models of it in about all the major scales. The K&C M10 is a nice model and it represents a vehicle that was in combat for most of the war. The M24 was a late-comer to action. It's a "win-win" situation.

I agree with the other posts. They are both first rate, although I think the Chaffee just pips the M10 to the post.
That said, if you are looking to get both at some point, then I'd get the M10 first. It was released at around the same time as the Hummel which surprised most of us with it's retirement just recently.

I just saw the Chaffee today and thats the one I would go for.Infact I am starting to save for it now.;)

This is one of the few cases when you win either way as all are excellent models. Personally I would buy the M10 first as it's an earlier release and 'possibly' closer to retirement. That said the green version of the Chaffee is the most attractive and better detailed imo, and it's still suitable for BoB displays as they weren't all white.

Thanks for your input gentlemen and I am pleased to report I've ordered the M10 and one of the infantry sets to get started. I'll be getting the Chaffee and additional infantry sets in the coming months.

You are soooooo right! I have two of the Hummels. Why do they call it a Hummel? What does it have to do with dolls?

The Hummel is called the bumble bee in English. I like the M10, open top vehicles are neat to display the figures.

I have the M10 in my Bulge diorama. It is perfect for depicting a battle scene, as the commander, has his arm up ready to give the fire order. Also, the open top lets you view the entire crew and 76mm shells. The tank has been out for awhile, and I am sure retirement is around the corner.

I'm very happy to hear the enthusiastic comments about the M10 and I cannot wait to get it. This is my first piece of WWII armor after all.

I get the feeling I am starting down a slippery slope, but on the other hand, a lot of these K&C WWII items have been appealing to me for some time.

I have been looking at the new Sherman due out next month now as well and that may actually precede the Chaffee in the purchase order. I also want to get the DD jeep before it's gone by the wayside. And that doesn't even cover all of the figure sets I want to get eventually. See what I mean about the slippery slope......

Mister Dave:

Welcome to the WONDERFUL "slippery slope" & the ride of your life! As for your choices-they are all wonderful. However, I vote M10 for now so that you will not be kicking yourself later. Love those Chaffees though and they are my favorite. Have fun with your new found passion.

Though I prefer the M10, up close the Chaffee model looks a lot "cleaner" in its details, but expected as it's a later model. Have not got either of these yet, but did get the US Patrol Jeep which is very nice.

I had a close look at that Jeep set whilst browsing at my local K & C dealers yesterday and it certainly impressed me. The Dodge weapons carrier with water tanker is another standout.

Oz, I haven't seen the patrol jeep up close but it looks good in the pics. I was thinking of getting it to put with the M-12 SPG, what's your opinion? I was also considering getting the american war correspondent figures taking pics of the "BIG SHOT" to boost morale on the home front. I'm a little concerned they may not match well but I haven't seen them up close.

Okay, well that M10 just showed up here at the office and man do I love it! Those big vehicle boxes are a lof of fun to open up aren't they? Now the big question is...which vehicle do I buy next? Of course I had to get some Infantry figures to put next to it as well and I love them too. :)

Winter Chaffee of course! :)
Glad you like the M10, it's a very cool piece.

Ditto on the winter Chaffee. There are plenty of great allied winter infantry sets to pick from as well. The american sniper team set looks like it's a really good piece. Glad you liked the M-10, it's one of my favorite pieces, mostly because of the detail inside the open turret much like the Hummel.

All sounds good to me and I reckon they will match up ok
