I was a bit harsh recently in a thread about the number of Shermans that have been made recently and, on reflection for me, this has to be the best one released its just a brilliant set and can be used in so many set up's

An excellent release although I still think there has been too many

I agree that it is the best K&C Sherman produced with an interesting back story about Patton and the sandbags. But HB also made a very, very good Sherman and Figarti's flail Sherman is spectacular too. Those are my top 3 Shermans and I'm embarrased to say how many Shermans I have but it is exactly half as many as Louis. ;):D:D

Very nice Mitch.I have this Sherman and I must say it doesn't get mentioned very often but I like it, the sandbagging looks very good, despite what old Blood and guts thought;)

Rob

I also agree guys the General Inspection Sherman by K/C was a GOOD ONE:)

Rob...

I know it was seen as somewhat cowardly thing to do by some and ruined the tanks but, when the germans had high velocity 75mm and the 88mm and Panzerschrecks and panzerfausts I begrudge nodody beefing up their ride. I am **** sure I would have in similar circumstances

Me too!. There are arguments about how much stopping power the bags had, but even if it had none but boosted the morale of the crews I'd have though them well worth the effort. The actual picture of Patton stomping off from his confrontation with the crew is very telling, he has a face like thunder if memory serves.

Rob

Patton forbid their use as they put strain on the suspension , engine and transmission, increased fuel consumption and reduced cross country mobility. And especially because the army did some very detailed firing tests and found that except for high angle shots against sandbagged front armour, provided no additional protection at all.

Terry

Yes he forbade them- from a non combat crew position:D

Rob

The best defensive Sherman upgrade were the wet ammo storage system which reduced fires on penetrating hits from 75% - 80% down to 15% - 20%.

Terry

Yes, and they too had an affect on morale.

Mitch,
"General Inspection" is one of my favorites from K&C.

Mitch, this might be my favorite K&C piece. Great set with lots of figures as well.

Thanks Rob and Mitch. The buildings are from a CTS playset I have. They are 1/32 scale but work ok with K&C even though a little small.

The "General Inspection" Sherman is great and I've used it in both winter and summer scenes, very versatile.

As usual your photos and setup are excellent. The figures & tank look great.
Thanks for posting.

Duke...

Thanks for the heads up re the buildings I don't worry too much about scale of buildings as sometimes you have really small cottages etc so, very often you can easily get away with 1/32nd scale.

They do look very nice

I can still remember a few years ago trying to decide if this piece would make my collection. At $199 it was one of K&C's most expensive releases. I finally got it because it was a SL and "Patton" was a desired figure. Looking back what a bargain that piece was with all the associated figures, today that piece would be north of $300 I'm sure!
