had a play with another stug a while back that I got from Neil and although the stug was a very nice model the whitewash was done in a way that actually made the assault gun look pink in certain positions and angles. I resprayed this one and weathered it a bit. Always liked the shots of schurzen that have been either badly damaged ripped off or similar battle and use damage so, I cut of some of the extra skirts on the stug and, scored the rest to make it look more realistic.

I liked the way that CS attached the skirts in the first place but, prefer less on an AFV than was given. Probably one of the best stug's made in 1/30th IMO

Very nice - IMO a 100% improvement. I agree it is one of the best Stug models, but I too hate the thin whitewash and pink undertones. I have discussed whitewashing it more and dirtier with a local painter. We also decided to cut up the schurzen.

I didn't like the plastic arms that hold the sideskirts to the tank - what did you do with those? And are so many rust stains down the sideskirts realistic? Can they be removed/painted over/ minimized?

Neil..

Cheers mate. I have not forgotten you and stuff will be winging its way to you very soon

Terry...

I lef the main part that attaches to the deck plate just above the wheels as you canot see it too much the ones on this model and mine seemed more like rubber than plastic and, did not sit flush with the side of the armour so, I made some new ones from plastic card for what was left and, filed a little groove into the part that attaches to the roof where it lifts from the superstructure. If that makes sense?

As for the original rust stains I repainted over them when I sprayed the vehicle and, decided to use a winter grime as pics I have seen where snow begins to thaw and turn to slush and mud collects in the groves and bolts and then when wet runs down the AFV sides especially, the schurtzen. Not a fan of rust on winter AFV's in the kind we see in the hobby as invariably AFV's did not have sufficient time to rust in that manner in the short periods of winter weather. Far more likely to just get plain dirty than rusty.

The Stug looks great, Mitch. I never cared for the winter wash of the CS model, but I got a Normandy version I really like. I also altered the skirts, but it was just a matter of removing a couple of panels for that 'lost in action' look. It is a good model. -- Al

Outstanding work !
When I got my CS Winter StuG way back when, I was immediately impressed by the model, but didn't care for the "Miami Vice" pastel-like appearance of the paint job. I've got mine listed on eBay at a low price-point and may just yank it off auction and give it a new paint job. If I can only get mine to look half as good as yours.
