Wittman New Tiger Comparison Photos (1 Viewer)

Better test, compare the new CS Tiger to CS Panther and then ask yourself, based on the real measurements which tank ought be larger..My problem with CS is that their vehicles do not even correctly match up size wise with each new release. There are a number of us who have scale conversion programs that continue to do the math and in inches, these models are over sized.. Of course when we are told that this or that release is sold out, that's supposed to make it OK! Michael

I humbly inform you that you are incorrect.

Yours is classic mis-information.

Please sir prove your claim by posting photos of the vehicles against each other and measurements: such as a Panther relative to the new Tiger or the King Tiger relative to the new Tiger.

I'm sorry it is nothing personal, but the vehicles are all measured tightly to each other and are a pristine 1/30th scale: we spend alot of time to do this.

regards,

Brian

Nice tigers. The old K&C were not sold as 1/30th were they?? I thought Andy even said they were underscaled and the tunisian was the start of the bigger cats

Thanks for that info Frank. This has always been an interesting topic. Tiger tanks were huge vehicles and your photo from Bovington confirms that. From your collection photos, the First Legion figure looks good to me as far as scale goes against the HB Tiger. I guess you already mentioned that the HB Tiger is just a little underscale. The earlier K&C Tigers (like the Winter Tiger pictured below) look underscale to me, probably closer to 1/32 than to 1/30, but the Tunisian Tiger looks larger and maybe 1/30? I have not done the measurements to see. And you are also correct in that you cannot measure a tank's scale from a figure, as the figure might not be to scale in the first place, plus the fact that people are different sizes anyway:). I was very surprised to see the K&C Kursk Tiger being so much smaller than the new CS Wittman's Tiger. Hopefully someone will provide the measurements to confirm scale of each? I do applaud Brian for trying to get the true scale correct. Just as a point of interest, I lined up some of the Tigers that I do have to compare. From left to right: K&C Tunisian Tiger 1/30 : K&C Winter Tiger 1/30 : FOV Normandy Tiger 1/32 : Academy Early Tiger (Kursk Markings) with Tamiya tank crewman, both 1/35.

As the picture of Frank standing next to the Bovington Tiger proves, these vehicles were huge and dwarfed the men. I measured the Tiger I's I had in relation to height from ground to top of the front hull and they are all virtually 60mm. This doesn't prove over all scale accuracy though as my CS 1st issue Tiger is a mm or so shorter and narrower than my KC Kursk and Snow Tiger but at the same time a mm or so taller from ground to turret top. All 3 of these are longer and wider than my early issue KC Tiger WS025 (white 131) and taller at the turret. If the new CS Wittmann Tiger is correct then all of the above are undersized, and by quite a bit. I await the experts and their measurement conclusions. -- Al

When I purchased my Winter Tiger, I was under the impression that it was supposed to be 1/30. I think it was sold that way because the figures included are of the same size/style as all the other K&C 1/30 figures, but I can't confirm that. Maybe someone else could reply on this. I don't know for sure.

There was a couple of feet difference between the panther and tiger. the panther being longer. the panther was narrower even with its skirts than the tiger by 5 inches and the panther and tiger were very close in height. 2.99 for panther and 3.00 metres for tiger

As the size of the Panther has been referenced also, it needs to be pointed out that the Panther, even though a "medium" tank of less weight than a Tiger I, was a huge beast as well, actually being longer than a Tiger I , narrower and real close to the same height. I don't have measurements but that is my recollection. -- Al

That is absolutely correct and illustrates the problem: Folks " Assume " that the King Tiger was huge and that the Tiger was big and the Panther was medium. This is wrong. The Panther was enormous while in various dimensions the Tiger and KT were also very big.

Collectors rarely have seen all of the above vehicles togethor in one photos so they make certain assumptions. These assumptions are often times incorrect.

Cheers!

Maybe to allay all the fear mongering, you could show them to us all together in one photo, the Mark Panzer, Panther ,New Tiger, and King Tiger..maybe throw in the Easy 8. We then can put away our calculators and scale programs and think that Figarti ,F/L, and K/C have no idea what 1/30 is as all their vehicles seem to match up pretty good to one another...Michael
