IF your watching the tourney in is France this year...I am. I did not know France was so chilly/cool this time of year. Anyway, love me some Womens Soccer as I am all about girl power!

Argentina got a single point for the first time in their World Cup history...yea! Surprisingly, Japan did not/ could not score.

Scotland gave England a helluva game England 2-Scotland 1.

New Zealand...YES New Zealand almost had a 0-0 game, but the Netherlands got one in extra time.

France routed South Korea 4-0.

AND

The loves of my life the Womens Team USA lambasted Thailand 13-0. Alex Morgan (a soccer goddess) scored 5 goals.

AND

Hope Solo has caused more drama...again...by bad mouthing the Team USA coach this past weekend. She's beautiful too, but man she is a bitter one.

Anyway...GOAL!

I saw portions of the Germany China match and the Spain SA match and they weren't bad. I caught portions of the US match today and, frankly, I found the US performance embarrassing. It was evident Thailand was overmatched and when it was 7-0, the US could have called off the dogs. The last six or seven goals were completely unnecessary. They humiliated an opponent for no good reason. It probably shows the weakness of the field.

John:

Everywhere is chilly/cool this time of year compared to Texas except for maybe the actual surface of the sun.

Right...IF team USA would have played the "monkey in the middle" trick, whereby they just pass endlessly and do nothing and never attack, they would have been harangued for toying with them and it would been an obvious throw of the game...even though they were winning. So, they gave Thailand a game fair and square. This is the WORLD CUP and there is no "poor" Thailand as Thailand will lick their wounds, train harder and bring it the next game. Plus, there are points are on the line in their group to advance, the players deserve their minutes, international goals stats AND the designation of making a FIFA World Cup goal. I hope they win their next game 15-0 because I am all about girl power and they deserve the respect they earned for being both FIFA and Olympic champs. In fact, I hope Boston wins 15-0 tonight.

You want embarrassing? The mens team did not even qualify for the last FIFA cup...yeah they lost to Trinidad and Tobago 2-1. Now thats embarrassing.

So, how are you Jazz?

It's the way they celebrated goals 8, 9, 10,11....as if it were their first that was utterly classless. Score all you want, play hard 'till the end, but if you've decided to not call off the dogs and simply play a little D then at least dampen the celebrations. Ugly stuff there for all to see

I am not a soccer person. And I did not know this but if teams are tied at the end of a tourney. The team with the most over all goals is the winner. So racking up goals is not a problem, however elaborate celebrating of goals after about the 6th goal is classless. A simple pad on the back would suffice not twirling, sliding on the turf, no good.

Gary, they’re divided into six groups of four teams each. The top two advance from each group. Goal differential only matters in deciding who is first or second in a group. After the group stage is over, the knockout phase begins and the only thing that counts is the final score. The amount of goals you scored in the round of 16 has no bearing on the quarter finals.

Man no love for the reigning World Cup and Olympic medalist who champs and pretty while they are doing it. I'm not surprised though...the womens team can't seem to do anything right. To me, I'm like "hell yeah" show the world how we do it, how we have the best program in the world and continue to bring home trophies on an international level. With all the male dominated sports the US has, it is a nice respite to see the opposite sex play with out the big contracts and fight to get everything they earned...both on the filed and off. And even though they bring home the medals, trophies and accolades they still get can't paid equally like the men do...who I must add...once again...who didn't even qualify.

The struggle is real...

This has nothing to do with sex -- if a men's team did it they would receive the criticism -- but class, which they didn't exhibit yesterday.

Anyway, that was yesterday's news. Speaking of yesterday, the Germany Spain (my team, now) match was very good. The Spanish keeper made a mistake at the end of the first half that cost them a goal and ultimately the game. Although Spain dominated possession in the second half, they couldn't score; Germany's defense was tough and they were content to let Spain have possession while they defended.

Today's Australia Brasil match was highly entertaining with Australia scoring a long distance goal that wasn't touched (although not hit that hard) and a goal allowed by VAR that was later ruled an OG (although it only grazed the defender's hair, or so it seemed to me).

France had an own goal that was just jaw dropping from Renaud. I could not believe it!!! I am watching the Chinese communists vs. South Africa right from recording the games. I did not watch the Spain game, but now I will.

I like VAR...the game needed it soooooooooo badly.

Spain has one player who seems really good, Lucia Garcia, from Athletico Madrid. Most of Spain’s players seem to come from that team or Barcelona. I don’t know if Real Madrid has a women’s team.

I saw the second half of England Argentina and Arg didn’t have the horses to compete with England; the first time they tried to open it up, they were caught in a counter attack and that was basically the match.

Just saw that a New Zealand player had her arm broke by the ball off a kick. I saw that happen at a College game once. Brutal.

PLUS...Thailand scored a goal against Sweden!!!!!

It was a great feel good moment for the Thais but somewhat taken away by an unnecessary penalty call.

Spain advanced to the knockout stage for the first time and for its efforts it gets to play -- in all likelihood -- the US {eek3} Well, it will be a learning experience. They kept the Germans, the number 2 team in the world to one goal, so maybe they can do the same here.

A rough one for the Aussies as they lost on PKs. Their keeper looked lost in the PK phase.

The one thing that nobody seems to play in women’s soccer is defense. Very few tackles and what would be minor in the men’s game can earn a yellow card.

All,

Well, the USWNT have won a four FIFA World Cup.

Their next uniform will be adorned with four stars.

They are the best in the WORLD...this team wins, everyone wins.

I hope the men win tonights ConcaCaf against Mexico. Then maybe they can qualify for the FIFA mens World Cup.
