I have been wanting a permanent "snow groundwork" shelf diorama for my house...one in which specificly...the metal bases of the figures would be permanantly covered in snow...I wanted to use Woodland Scenic's Snow Flake Snow SN140...

I talked to Mark (Marco55) about a problem he had with a different Scene A Rama (a division of Woodland Scenics) snow product that adhered to his diorama model structure (a JJD blockhouse)...

I think it was a mix that he painted on the roof of the blockhouse...and couldn't be removed after it set up for a while...not sure how long...but at least several weeks from what I understood...which scared me for years against doing a permanent one of my own...for fear of ruining the bases of my figures...

again...Woodland Scenic's...makes a product called "Snow Flake Snow SN140"...it comes in a 32oz shaker bottle...I have used it for years on dioramas...covering the bases of my metal based figures and have never had a problem with it...but have never left it on for more that a day or two...

I called Woodland Scenics today and spoke with someone in their technical division...they told me their Snow Flake Snow SN140 product...was comprised of shaved/powdered styrene...which I think is basically plastic...

the technician said they have run no tests on the long term effects of styrene on metal...but he doubted highly that it would ever adhere to anything...unless perhaps it got wet/damp...

has anyone ever had a "snow groundwork" diorama for an extended period of time using Woodland Scenic's Snow Flake Snow SN140 that can comment on any adverse long term effects...or had any problem with it adhering to anything...or can comment on this product in any way?

Mike,

I have covered my Snowshoe figures with Woodland Scenics SN140 for at least two years and have not noticed any problems.
