Just set this up today to get a visual perspective. this is one of the 4 VN themed Dioramas I'm working on for the Chicago show next month. Its about 1/2 done and will contain 30+ from K&C's great VN range (with one very large Collectors showcase radio operator his K&C Marine buddies call Brutus...... {sm4}).

Everything is scratch built except the temple, which are parts from old Verlinden kits. Everything needs to be detailed, including the interior of the garage, the burnt out vehicles, building exteriors, groundwork, ect but should have done by end of next week. I was actually north of Hue for Tet 69 with my army unit, when we thought they were going to do a "anniversary" attack. We were only in the city for a day, but this is basically what I remember the streets looked like, many of them still in ruin after the battle the year before

Absolutely spectacular, even more so considering how much of it is scratch built.

I also can't wait to see this in all it's glory at the show...………….I doubt this will last long, someone is going to snap it up.

Tremendous work Pat, kudos.

What you done so far with your Hue during Tet vision is looking great Pat. Do take lots of photos of the finished diorama too please.

Who does the green truck pat ?

Gee, the buildings looks great, love the rusting effect on the doors, shutters, coca cola dispenser and window frames.

thanks Tom-as K&C and some of the other manufactures up their sculpt and painting quality to military miniature level, felt I had to up my diorama realism to match. VN is a hot and humid tropical climate, with 5-6 months of monsoon rain every year, so anything metal are rust magnets. In war, little resources are spent on paint and upkeep,so metal things deteriorate quickly. Same with buildings.

Great job on the buildings...the hit the nail on the hammer with the designs!

Thanks Mike-helps that I was there the next year. Although I didn't get into the cities much, Na Trang, Ban Me Thout, Dalat and Pleiku were similar-very few buildings over 2-3 stories except in the heart of down town.
