World Figure & Model Expo - Chicago - July 7th-9th, 2017 (1 Viewer)

I finished (I think) uploading all photos taken by me and a few others! Check out the Album on Facebook - way too many to post them all on here! You can look at them without having a FB account. https://www.facebook.com/pg/treefrogtreasures/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10155471144459500
I am still working on adding the Artist's names to all the works but that is a phone open while I have the album open on the computer to compare and type notes!
I drove back bright and early this morning so it may be a few days before I can get this all finished!

ENJOY! There were some amazing pieces there, that is for certain!

Julie

Thanks for the FB link Julie, great photos of some very impressive models.

It was a fun and busy weekend! Actually found a few more photos I somehow missed posting......will be adding a few more to the Album it seems!

And yes, Tom - Roo made it home! But thought you'd like his presence with the WWII Tank ^&grin

Now we are on to the sorting and putting away of everything that cam back from the show!

Thanks for the photos Julie. Some wonderful creations. This work, in a way, reminded me of a Hieronymous Bosch painting.

I don't know what this is...but I like it...^&grin...

Yes, it was an astounding piece, and I agree, Brad, I thought of Bosch when I first rounded the corner of that row and saw it. That piece is "Homage" by Fletcher Clement, who won a gold medal in the Fantasy-Open category for it. If I am not mistaken, each detail refers to someone in the hobby.

Fletcher is an MFCA Grand Master, and he was awarded World Master status at the show. His work ranges from historical to fantasy, though I think he's been tending more to fantasy subjects the past couple of years.

Prost!

I'm still sorting through my photos, too. I got about a hundred, and then my camera's battery died--and I didn't take along my charger! I've got some uploaded to Facebook.

The MMSI featured a display by club members, showing things from their own collections. They featured works by some of the greats in the hobby, from the generations that have gone before. Shep Paine's dioramas of the "Lady Be Good", the Eve of Essling, a Tiger I, the Elefant that ran out of gas, and Minenwerfer were on display. There were also individual figures he painted, as well as figures from painters like Bill Imrie, Bob Knee, Mme. Desfontaines (her Washington and Lafayette at Yorktown), among others. It was a real treat to see things in person, that I have only seen in books or magazines, or online.

I also got to see the box diorama that my buddy Dennis Levy built in collaboration with Anders Heintz, of Jefferson and Adams burning the midnight oil, writing the Declaration of Independence. Dennis built the scene, while Anders sculpted and painted the figures. Dennis had brought his work-in-progress to some of our meetings, but he shipped the finished piece out after that.

It'll take me a while to get everything straight and ready to post, too.

Prost!
Brad

Some years back Anders Heintz was in a PBS Show "Texas Ranch House." It's still available on DVD
