Thanks for the kind words Doug; all of the credit on this one belongs to Matt, although he will agree as we've spoken about this quite a bit that Stalingrad is a passion of mine.
Not to digress, but Matt had (key word being HAD) an incredible 20mm version of Stalingrad in another life as part of his WWII wargaming collection. Buildings, factories, vehicles, figures, etc, etc, all painted to a museum quality standard (yes, museaum quality, so they'd fit right in at Louis' place). When he got out of 20mm wargaming, he offered the collection up to me, but like a fool, I passed as I determined I had too much Stalingrad stuff in my collection only (as I write this, I am smashing my head off of the keyboard).
Simply put, I've had the pleasure of viewing these figures for quite some time. They are not, not, NOT toy soldiers, they are miniature works of art IMO.
When I think "Stalingrad", THIS is what I see in my mind.
Matt, you knocked it out of the park on this one.
And for those of you who are attending OTSN, Matt is working on a jaw dropping surprize for that show re Stalingrad, that's all I can say at the moment.........................
I will obviously honor Matt's desire not to have the page posted. The link to the iMag is here:

The Germans are all Heer and Pioneers. There are no SS at this point. The sculpting is on par with the Napoleonics and very imaginative - hardly any "standard" position. I think that contrary to the Napoleonics you will only need one or two of each. There are of course the mandatory shooting figures that you could use several times. No figures "at ease". All are very much involved in various combat activities. All figures show "grit" like dirt or torn clothing. There are German and Russian soldiers that are using captured weapons. There are no anti-tank weapons (like Panzerfaust"). The bases are very good - mostly rubble.
Paint job is outstanding on the pictured figures. These would be very close to St Petersburg standard.
Shipping early June.
This is not the only mention of First Legion in the magazine and several others of Matt's products are featured.
I recommend the magazine, even in its electronic form, although the maneuvering takes some getting used to.
These sculpts are among the best I have seen for any range. They are simply captivating. I can only imagine what comes next but it should be a corker. I sure hope this 'next level of accuracy' trickles down to the mother line.I will obviously honor Matt's desire not to have the page posted. ....

Thanks so much for the link, Those are great figures, so I guess Matt's 3 footer is a back drop streets of Stalingrad?

I would love to go My friend, who knows
I have to say that, as expected, these figures are simply stunning! Matt and company have really done an excellent job here. Even for those who are not really excited about an Eastern Front theme to open FL's WW2 line, you have to admit these releases are a notch above what is already out there.
Or maybe two notches......

Matt,
Those Sturmpionieres are the best looking WWII figures I have ever seen. I can't wait to get them in my hands so I can see them up close. I'm happy you chose the Autumn portion of the battle, the attempt to capture the city since this is the part of the battle that has always fascinated me most.
Welcome to the Rattenkrieg "War of the rats".
Or maybe ten.............I guess once and for all we will all see whether or not Eastern Front sets will sell, I'll be on the front lines, down in the trenches up close and personal with the customers at the shows with these starting in June and Matt will be cranking out the orders via mail, so between the two of us, we'll have a good handle rather quickly as to how The Eastern Front is recieved.
I have two shows in June, two in July, three in August all prior to OTSN in September, so I'll know the answer sooner than later...........
Ray,
Not exactly, but you are on the right track.................
I'm afraid all this excitement is going to go the other direction once we here the pricing for these figures.
Rob,
I would suspect Matt will go above and beyond to ensure TM Terrain has stock for the June London show; if it is humanly possible, Matt will see to it, short of him putting them on a rowboat and paddling to the Uk from China.
TM Terrain is Matt's Uk show and mailorder agent if I am not mistaken. For all I know, David is in his bunker as I write this building a 6 by 2 Stalingrad diorama.....................
I'm afraid all this excitement is going to go the other direction once we here the pricing for these figures.
Thanks George.
Rob
Matt indicated in the $50 per figure range.
