Maybe they were hoping the springs would somehow get between the driving wheels and jam the tracks .... a "Tankie" who is clued up on tracks could give an assessment on track jamming.....or a bulldozer driver.......cheers TomB
Have seen a Centerian Tank stopped by our outa perimeter. wire ( Holsworthy 55) ....the wire got tangled into something and puff one very embrassed lot of Tankie's...cheers TomBThey look like the coiled end of a barbed wire fence picket. Not for stopping tanks.
Leyland had a car ...the P76 from memory... introduced into Aust in the 60's from memory...it was a lemon.....maybe the same motor as the Chieftain ?....cheers TomB.It takes very little to throw a track, but they'd have to be close enough together that they couldn't be avoided.
With Chieftain the engine (Leyland) used to break before the track snapped!!^&grin

Correct....petrol was cheap then....that amount of fuel would have taken you a long way even with the P76 ..V8....I dont remember much about it...but in fairness to the car...the market could not support another large car and Leyland engine's were not as good or reliable as the Falcon or Holden ...cheers TomBI believe it was marketed as being able to carry a 44 gallon drum in the boot.
