It strikes me that on the book cover Brad posted, that the yellow nosed jet fighter that the Germans made, sure looks a lot like the later Russian Mig 15. Not identical, but close enough that it is an obvious influence. -- Al

Wayne is correct. {eek3} There was a Ramjaeger and it was launched from a V-1 rail on April 7, 1945. It was to be used as an escape rocket to allow Hitler to escape from Berlin. Unfortunately, during the test firing, it was struck by a bolt of lightning and went back in time to 1917, crashing into the newly completed Kaiserwagon. The impact totally obliterated both vehicles, even removing their existence from the historical record. And you know the rest of the story. Without his Ramjaegr, Hitler could not escape Berlin and died soon after. The myth that grew up around the Ramjaeger was used in the storyline of how Superman escaped from the planet Krypton as a baby when it was about to explode. So you see, the Ramjaeger escape could have worked.

Not really any difference. Hitler was real. Even the Ramjaeger and Kaiserwagon were real - for a time. The leading TS company in the world must have painstakingly researched their brief existence in time because they made and sold models of them. In, fact, that research is believed to have been the source of the dreaded Rob's Disease.

Hitler did manage to bring back from 1917 a rare WWI map of the eastern front which he was looking over during the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944. For reasons that have never been adequately explained the map was written in English. Historians opine this may have been the basis for his belief that things were going swimmingly up until that point on the eastern front.

So the Kaiserwagon wasn't totally obliterated. {eek3} That explains a lot. A small fragment of the Kaiserwagon, a map, made it back to 1944 where it confused Hitler into making flawed decisions. The map poisoned his mind just like Kryptonite weakens Superman.

There were - maybe- a few drawings about the FW Rammjäger but never any worked out plans .It has never been developed and has never made a test flight. FW never produced any jet plane or rocket propulsed plane during WWII.The drawings were refused by the Luftwaffe.End of the FW Rammjäger story.It remained an unfinished project. Unlike the Reichenberg suicide aircraft the FW had no pulsejet, but was to be powered by a Walter rocket motor. This V1 airframe with a FW 190 cockpit had to be launched from a mother plane, the Heinkel 111. The Heinkel 111 was a very slow airplane; so it was thought that it would be too easy a target for escort fighters.That is one of the reasons why the project was refused. The only Rammjäger that FW produced was the FW 190-8/R8 (aircraft with a propeller)
