Just looking at the pics in the new Collector magazine. Anyone have an insight on who or what is the "German General" in the white uniform? I've seen some pictures of Hitler in a white jacket that appeared to be a formal dinner or summer coat, but nothing like this guy. This figure really stands out from other releases and thought it might merit some further information.

That figure is Albert Speer. he was Hitler's engineer who designed all of the Nazi buildings, the Atlantic Wall and several others. he was also appointed to replace Hitler after his death. He was jailed after the war for 20 years and dies I believe in 1981.

Bill, I believe Speer is the guy near the car door in the tan outfit, Speer wasn't a general.

I really want this set,i think i prefer it to the Gestapo one.

Rob

I think the prisoner in the Gestapo set really looks like his days are numbered don't you think?.

Yes, Speer is the guy in the brown uniform. Just curious if anyone has ever seen anything like the white uniform. I'm sure its based on a particular service, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe something related to the construction of the Atlantic Wall?

Yes. The sculpt of the figure (french resistant) is a success. This is why it is so disturbing.

Pierre.

I haven't seen the picture in question but i do know that German officers had a "walking out" jacket that was white.

I know this because Dragon produced an Otto Carius figure in white jacket a couple of years back.

I remember that figure,i was big into Dragon at the time and now my loft creaks to the weight of about seventy of them.Have started selling the rarest ones to fund the show in March.

I still like my 1/6th collection though I don't really get many anymore just the odd one that really appeals.

Which rare ones do you have Rob?

Probably my rarest is Zimm the Ardennes FJ officer.
I've also got the Dragon expo DAK zundapp combination from a couple of years back. I really like that piece.

Like the Zundapp a lot but havn't got that one.I have Kitt Carson,Joachim Peiper,Konrad the Para,Joseph Sturmbanfuhrer and a few others.I was so into them but i found it unpractible to store/show them.My Wife hated them thought they were 'dolls ' and like K&C much better.

Oz,

You are right about Speer. I got carried away with the white uniform. I asked Andy about doing a figure in Chicago last year with a white uniform. I believe they were used during the summer if my mind serves me right?

The figure in the white should be a real collectible piece, especially since it is only available with the set.

I'm also a recent 'sixth scale convert'. Sold off Zimm, erwin Stangeberg and Artur Hecht etc...when I got going on K&C.

Still enjoy kitbashing and a little customizing from time to time.

I enjoyed kitbashing and making up squads, but then i discovered K&C and that was that!.Sorry to see them go really but i need the space and the money helps too!

The Collectors' Showcase people seem to have a similar cream jacketed officer, but on Afrika Korps duty:

Its a welcome development for K&C to add to the range of officers' uniforms, as its nice to have something between the standard battle dress of the WS series and the unpleasant parade-ground LAH uniforms. I never bought the Mussolini or Goering figures but I imagine that one could have an interesting array of olive, khaki, cream/white, sky blue, field grey and so forth. I'd imagine that the K&C officer's white jacket probably relates to naval dress - it is an Atlantic Wall vignette and thus not inconceivable that there was co-operation between a number of their armed services.

I was thinking along similar lines except KC indicates that he is a "German General." Maybe he belongs to an engineering corps in the army.

Agreed. I also had a skdfz 250 and an Opel Blitz-and no room for any more vehicles...

Now, LOTS of room for vehicles-but burning thru the cash a 'bit' faster.

But having a blast.

Its the vehicles that take up so much room.I only have two Kublewagons and the amount of room they take up in the loft is considerable.I am sometimes really tempted to buy the odd figure now and again but i always stop short and buy some K&C!
