I have a question for any knowlegable forum member regarding thw WS121 armoured vehicle.....First did this armour really exist and see battle action and if so in what european arena and is it proper size......It is "nicely done"by K/C....... BUT.....to me it seems a little "small"....Is this size historically correct??........I also received ws123,ws124 and ws122 and I must say they are "superb" "excellent"....Have no reservations in purchasing these figures.....Thank you Andy......Looking forward to the release of a winter-tiger.....(to match the Tunsian)......regards Vezzolf

It certainly did exist and was a common vehicle used on most if not all fronts. Many people confuse this small halftrack with the better known and larger 251 halftrack. The 250/1 is the standard version of the vehicle K & C issued as Rommel's Halftrack.

I haven't seen it live as yet but the model looks terrific in photos but imo it is overpriced for the size. But I guess we will have to get used to paying bigger dollars to finance the increasing standard of living in China, and the Chinese workers had better get used to inflation and higher living expenses as their incomes increase.

Thanks Oz for the historical confirmation......I think it would have been better in the larger version you mentioned......It has nice detail and is well done....it just looked a liitle small to me....Regards Vezzolf

As Oz noted this vehicle was used everywhere. It was particularly common in reconnaissance units. The markings on this vehicle are for Panzer Lehr Division which is more limiting than the vehicle itself (Normandy, Ardennes are the big battles). If you ignore the markings then you can use it pretty much anywhere.

As for size. I think it looks pretty good. I just ordered mine a few days ago so I'll know better when it arrives. I'll post more pictures once I get it. Here are some pictures with people for comparison. Note how Rommel's Greif is actually a SdKfz 250 and not the SdKfz 251 K&C produced (maybe there were different vehicles used?? ;) )

A great book on the subject is this one:

Frank, I haven't seen the K & C Greif in person but I think it was the smaller 250 from what other collectors have said about it being smaller than Peipers 251 Command Halftrack that K & C issued later.

Nice catch Oz, For some reason I thought the same vehicle was used for Panzer Meyer's command vehicle.

That's ok Frank, and wasn't it good of me to include the deliberate mistake of substituting Peiper for Meyer so you wouldn't feel so bad ;) :D Don't you hate it when you know you have used the wrong name but can't think of the correct guy and just to lazy to look it up. Of course it is 1.15 am here so I'm going to plead fatigue is to blame :p

Frank....GREAT WWII photos......especially Rommel.....Did you find these photos on a web-site??.....Thank you

I hope he is using his binoculars. Or the other vehicle he was in.

my brother just got his ws121 set yesterday and I think it is one of the best sets as far as quality k&c has ever made. even though the prices are going up the quality is going with the prices.

I received my SdKfz.250 today so I thought I'd post some pictures and give my opinion.

I feel that overall the vehicle is excellent with great detailing and accessories. I am very happy with the piece and recommend it.

While I still struggle with the overall brightness of the color applied by K&C to their vehicles I feel the Dunkelgelb is pretty good on this piece. The brown is not bad either although I prefer a richer darker brown (RAL 8017). The green is the weakest color as it is nothing like RAL 6003 (not olive enough). I suppose this could be explained by the German supply situation. Quite often they had to make due with whatever paint they could get their hands on so non standard colors did show up.

Excellent photos. I saw this one in a local K&C stockist last weekend and was really impressed with it. It's small but has a lot of detail and character.
What i like in your photos is how well the recent German infantry figures go alongside it. They look like a complete set.

Excellant photos Frank, thanks for posting. This really does look a great vehicle and looks like it goes real well with the new German figures.I agree with a previous post, prices maybe going up but so is quality.
