So here goes (the question)...I do not want to take out a second mortgage or sell my first born son but I am willing to pay a reasonable price for a WS57 88mm Gun. I know it is no longer sold for retail, that it is a limited edition (1,000) and that it is very popular, but I am trying to play catch-up with WWII. Is this the dumb question (you know, the old saying, "that there is no dumb question except the un-asked question") - does anyone have a WS57 for sale?

According to Bill Sager, 1,000 were made and it wasn't really limited. Andy just didn't make anymore after 1,000 which at the time was probably an average K & C run.

Andy announced to the dealers when it was released that only 1000 were going to be made and thats where it ended.

I thought it was less than 1000. I remember getting a load of them, selling them out and then trying to re-order only to find out they were retired. That really upset me as it is really a great piece. I kept one for my self just for the heck of it.

I think I might have mentioned this before but I asked Andy awhile ago if he had any plans of making them again and he said they were very difficult to make so I don't think we'll see any 88s for a very long time.

Still looking. Have they all found a permanent home? Michael

Please, Andy, make another version of the 88. Don't force us sinners who were slow to discover the joy of collecting King & Country to mortgage our homes for an existing version of that famous gun. I don't want to pay the tuition for some clown to send his kid to Yale just because he was fortunate enough to happen be collecting at the right time, come on, make another one, like maybe one drawn by horses.:D

What a great post, in more ways than one. Your right on the target when it comes to issues like collecting and timing. Plus what a wonderful idea. I would love to see some horse artillery from the WWII Germans, especially matching the Wehrmacht sets already produced. Michael

Thanks Michael, I'd love to take credit for that one, but alas I can not. I have seen the horse drawn artillery idea on the forum before, sorry I don't remember who came up with it, and thought it was terrific. Since I missed out on both the 88MM gun and the German Calvary, it was the perfect answer.:) OK,Andy, it's your move.

BOOT51 you are going to hate me, Andy please no more 88,s, I have all 3 , the winter, summer and newer 88. I would prefer something new.

Re: NEW German Field HEAVY ARTILLERY GUNS, 88TH And 150MM!

:) Andy should make the 15.cm -150Mm ( HEAVY ) field Artillery Gun with an ( DAK Crew), since their wasn't any DAK with the Retired WS57; and a WERHMACHT CREW, to Operate the 15.CM-150 Field Artillery gun? Like OLD, TAMIYA Platic 1/35 Model 88th Gun and Crew! Also, What about a NEW PAK40 GUNand Crew, for ( DAK)---WEHRMACHT--FALSCHRIMJAGER?

HAY!!! Wait a minute. I started this thread; ME FIRST. :) Brad you know better. The line forms at the rear. Michael

Line? I did not see any line. I think these 88s need a new home a change of pace. Since I know there is no better home for toy soldiers then mine I humbly will take them for you as an act selfless service. What a guy I am.

I have the most recent version of the 88 and a fantastic piece it is too. Along with the StugIV it was the first piece I bought.

There's only one problem with it. the gun doesnt elevate very well. It's like it needs some kind of Viagra to get it in the mood. :)

I do think a new version with this problem fixed would be great especially if it was in DAK colours with a crew.

Agreed Easy,

I have many 88's ranging from KC to 21st Century, Britains and next up FOV in a couple of months. The best of both worlds would be the flexibility and movement of a 21st Century 88 fused with the craftsmanship and quality and figures of KC.

That would be great,

Carlos

Hi Carlos, I have a Minichamps 1/35 scale 88mm and the detail is soooo much better than any K & C piece - I just luv that diecast :)
