Well this was/is an interesting little set.

Andy showed me the concept of this in January this year in HK and i said yep your on a winner there!

The K&C UK allocation of the 999 is now sold out (pre sold) Myself and Mike have just been discussing it and we think (his age and my thick head!) not 100% sure that this was the fastest pre ordered SL done by K&C, in the UK any way.

Couple of points here........imagine if everybody could see it as at the moment as far as i'm aware it is only advertised on the WWW. So all the main collectors who are not NET friendly have / will miss out. As soon as it was advertised to us and the price given we phoned a few of the non net collectors of ours. There will no doubt be pics in the next few issues of the Toy soldier Press........but it will be sold out before then!

Another very interesting point from K&C UK.........we keep pushing the envelope.........watch our website for a report from a Collector of ours who was a child in the town when the assassination was done and his family new a number of the underground Czech fighters. He is now a Doctor in Czech Republic and will be doing a 'In the eyes of a child' report of what he remembers about that day and the days before and after. He will also be supplying pics around the time of the spot where it happened and also will be supplying pics of where it is now. I for one cannot wait to read this.

We have given him a Set free, as to have seen what he has seen demands the highest of respect. It was an honor to allocate him a set.

Thats sounds very interesting Tony, would be cool to see some pics of the area where it happened.

Rob

Yeah he says that he has pics that were taken by his uncle on the day and just after of the place it happend

He is a great guy to talk to and also contradicts the article in TSFM about the Gistapo arrest as my customer wanted a set as it was so good at depicting what happened. So if anybody should get upset it should have been him!

Tony

I just talked to my dealer here in Quebec and they already have twenty (20) pre orders for the WS104SL.

Looks like it will be a good seller.

They still have WS077SL and BBA15SL in stock

Pierre.

I will happily do a series of "Through the Eyes of a Child pieces" for you lot in return for the new SL set. Perhaps something like " I remeber the First Star Wars Movie" or "How my best friends sister loved John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever"

You can contact me directly over this exclusive or phone my agent in the West End.

Ron,
Every K & C dealer is allocated a certain amount of all SL's based on a pre determined number we all request from K & C. As a for instance, one dealer may be slotted in at 6 of all SL's, another 26, etc, it is based on a number we decide on and we are guaranteed to get that number.

That said, all of this particular SL are now accounted for.............................

Interesting that there seemed to be such a lukewarm response from this board. I would be all over this except for the fact that Heydrich's car appears to be the wrong color.

I am very excited about this SL Set - the color doesnt bother me in the least bit - a great collectors item IMO !! :D

Damien

funny and not funny!:D

Having spoken with this guy the ordeal they went through before and after the assassination attempt was horrific! I think you will appreciate that 'Trumps' A story on a movie!, but i know your kidding mate

I think that the set of the assissination attempt is a very well thought project by Andy and very Subtle and proves his expert knowledge of the WWII conflict as a whole. I personnaly would love to see more WWII Storys like this brought to the miniture world.

it is a very nice move away from the standard toy soldier expectance........history in minature is really what andy is acheiving and if it gets all talking about a part of history good or bad i'am 100% behind it.

Combat.....yes interesting that there is not much talk on here about it however............for example K&C UK has just under 3000 members and as far as iam aware there are only about 20 on here! Also 85% of K&C UK business comes from NON NET users so we never gage from here. However the feedback and as you can tell by mine and Bobs ever presance on the forum find the inforamtion you all submit criticle to how we develop. So not belittling what is said its just that if Andy gaged his development on the Forum responces then he woul dbe ignoring 85% of my members! and i am sure it is the same around the world.

Although I'm not personally much interested in the Heydrich or the Gestapo sets, I can appreciate how some collectors like them, some collectors don't like them - and some collectors (like me at the moment) don't care one way or another. If I were to dream up some kind of resistance scene in future, then I might go for these sets, but I'd be looking for additional armed civilians with sten guns, rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. to add to the display. Something like the shoot-out scene in "Carve Her Name With Pride" (Virginia MacKenna, I seem to remember) would be what I'd have in mind. Okay, I confess - it's what I do have in mind, but can't see it happening right now.
As an aside, I'm trying to keep LITTLE BOSS off the treefrog website at the moment, cos if she sees these two sets, then I'll get no peace until I add them to the Normandy Kubelwagen and the Albert Speer Citreon I've already promised to get her next month. Can't let anything prevent me getting the Crimean War Set 1...... ;)

Tony

You bring up a great point that should be remembered - That is this forum is a wonderful - "small" - crossection of collectors from around the World. We are not by no means the do-all or be-all of the Toy Soldier Collecting World.
And I believe some people dont realize that here (not refering to you Combat).

Time and time again we get opinions, comments, concerns and more opinions on what Andy is doing and what should be done. To some degree that is fine - we all have our thoughts and ideas about our hobby (me included) but, I think sometimes it goes a bit too far.

Many times I read postings of Members who are MAD that Andy is not LISTENING to them and is wrong in his decision on what he does with King and Country. Or we get the very critical "nit-pic" of releases that he does - the old.... this is wrong or that is wrong.....everyone certainly is allowed there opinion - its just that - your opinion, not the view of the entire Toy Soldier Collecting World.

This forum is a great place to have fun, share the joy of the hobby and talk with people who share our passion. We should all remember - like Tony has pointed out - this is not the entire Toy Soldier World. We all have opinions - I do - and we all should share them.

But, we all should try to take this ATTITUDE of "knowing what is best" down a few notches. I would think that 94% of this forum are just collectors and the other 3% is the people who produces Toy Soldiers with their money and capital and face the burdens every day of what it takes to stay in business and the other 3% are the Dealers - who make their living selling these items for a profit to us and have there own business concerns as well. (ALL of these numbers could be off a little bit - but, you understand my point).

It is very easy to be the expert (from the sidelines) when your money or efforts are not on the line every single day.

There is no reason not to share opinions about Toy Soldiers - thats way this forum is here. But, we should never forget that these are just our own little opinions and do not 100% represent what everyone else in this hobby thinks or should think. Having great long posts of the summary of your opinion or detail thoughts of what is right or wrong - should be tempered with the fact we are just "the few" - and we are certainly sitting on the sidelines in the industry, for its not our life's capital at risk everyday - it just our money we choose to spend on a hobby that we can quit at anytime.

So lets not take ourselves too seriously. Anyway those are just my thoughts.

Ron

Don't sell the collectors of the world too short Ron. They put a lot of money into the hobby which is why the number of manufacturers has increased over the last couple of years.

Lots of interesting posts most of which I agree. My only problem with the Heydrich set is that the car appears to be the wrong color and potentially the wrong model. That goes well beyond nitpicking since two minutes on the Internet can confirm that it was black and not gray. Andy can paint it any color he wants (a truism), but he is trying to depict a specific historical event - correct? So why not do it right? I'm not talking about something obscure like the brand of Heydrich's socks, but the centerpiece of the set. Either Andy got it wrong or for some inexplicable reason decided to paint it another color. It still makes a fine collectible and nice addition for anyone who wants it, but the errors here make me an undecided instead of certain buyer.

There is a degree of controversy as to what underwear Heydrich was wearing on the day. In the definitive two volume history " Called underwear of the Third Reich"t is said that Heydrich had two favourite pairs which he alternated. One thing is clear though at the end of the day his underwear did need to be washed

Re Tony's earlier points, maybe the whole collecting world is not posting here, but the people who do represent a cross sample of that world and this Forum has a huge readership and is very influential.

If it isn't, why do manufacturers and dealers come here? They know what they say will get huge airplay in the collecting community, either by reading it here or through word of mouth.

You act at your peril if you sell this place short.

Eazy

I am not selling the collector world short - I ARE ONE TOO !

My main point is that it takes alot of capital, time, effort and just plain old grit to run a business - any business. I think some folks either dont understand that or simply dont know.

And too many times on these posts we get the guys who take themselves way too seriously in this hobby.

No question the everday collector should be listen to and heard on products that are made. Any good businessman or woman will tell you that listening to your customers and dealers is good business.

Its the "puff -n- stuff" that we probally all could do without - IMO.

That was my point really. a great place to be to get the view of a great cross sector. However the wants and needs is when it becomes a Grey area!
There seams to be more demands on here than wants and needs / suggestions and then people get upset when they do not see a model made.

Great place to field ideas for the toy soldier collector and that is why al the manafacturers come here

Tony

Tony,

In that case, I agree with you. Without offending any of my friends or fellow members, the constant demands do drive me a little whacky. I must be one of the few happy with what Andy is doing or express my wishes privately.
