WSS104SL Assassination of Heydrich (1 Viewer)

Hello Adolph!!

Well, I am not sure if this isn't some prank post by another member- I mean lets face it- An Austrian named Adolph coming to the defense of the Heydrich assasination set seems a little fishy. But, I will work under the assumption that you are a new member and really exist- welcome to the forum. I would be interested to hear what you have to say about a lot of things in the hobby as I do not know of any German or Austrian collectors- I know they exist certainly but don't know any personally.

I think the word you are looking for is research.

Well, I think most of the members on this forum aren't as critical as some folks are and just enjoy the figures for what they represent- I know I can occasionally spot a "Flaw" here or there but for the most part I just go with it. I don't see the need to have every piece in my collection be a historical representation of what may or may not have been. The operative word here is "Toy".

As for the cartoon, well, I thought it was pretty comical and makes an interesting satirical footnote in the KC legacy. To all of us collectors, it was what we collectively believed to be a very nice and funny gesture from an individual who has earned the respect of his fans. I don't think I was portrayed in it but if I were, I would have laughed pretty hard and not lost a minute of sleep over it. I dunno, I think I speak for the group when I say that it was a very creative and interesting way for Andy to reach out and acknowledge his collectors.

Again, welcome to the forum and if your post is a indication of what is in store, I am sure we are going to have fun bringing you on board.

STANDS ALONE!!

Point of interest.

I suspect Adolf may be trolling for fun :) But there are plenty of members, including myself, that agree with him regarding the incorrect color of the vehicle.

Clearly there will, as usual, be divided opinons on this matter and others. But let's give every member a free chance to express their opinions without jumping on them, even if their name is Adolf

I see Andy did not address this in his Bits and Bobs, so I don't think we're going to get an official company line on this. I tend to think it's a case of "Artistic License".
Since this item is already sold out, it seems to matter little to most. I'm personally on the fence on this one, the historical inaccuracies bother me but it is truly a unique, beautiful and interesting set. In the end , that may carry the day.

Yes, ironic that among his last words were "I wouldn't be caught dead in that grey Horch. Now pull the benz around." Seriously, it was a miracle that they killed him under those circumstances. Interesting speculation that Himmler's doctor made sure he didn't make it. That's probably rubbish. Also that the British motivation in this was to provoke German retaliation among the Czech people (i.e. they were too chummy for Churchill's liking). If you are ever in Prague, you can go down into the church basement where the Czech's were cornered. The bullet holes are still in the walls from the final shootout. Another good show on last night was about Goering's time in prison at Nuremburg. Very well done.

Its funny how you can warm to a set and also misjudge the popularity of it as well. When i first saw this it didn't do much for me,but over the course of about two weeks it grew on me until i preordered it.I did not think it would prove as popular as other SL's and then Bingo!,its sold out.Shows you what i know:rolleyes:

Shannon and Pete said selling so may be more of a european thing! Plus hey the yanks wernt envolved with that one! :D Guys kidding!!

In the UK we nealry always sell out of the SL the only one we have about three or four left is the last one Generals/ Patton (oops) inspection.

In UK if it is GERMAN we sell out. Funny that! and also the fact that the LAH is one of the best sellers in the UK!
