WW 1 Centenary Diorama (1 Viewer)

The airfield is simply fantastic. I am thrilled to see that you all have been able to use all the different aircraft and figures to such great advantage in a dio that does them all proud. The size of the airfield makes it all fit so naturally and look so right, it makes me drool with envy. I especially like the 2 triplanes in the act of taking to the air, but it all looks superb, from the passing refugees to the group of pilots sitting around getting fortified for their next mission. Just a fantastic effort, men. -- Al

Marc (Barneywomble) photographed the dios today. He very kindly (and very quickly) sent some photographs of the Gotha my father made. Dad is very pleased with it while my mother is very pleased that it is out of the house. Hilariously, she took one look at it and said 'the propellers are on backwards'.

Jack,
Take your Mum to the Caloundra Air Museum. I went there in 1998 and took pictures of all their planes, some of which I had made in wood. One in particular I liked was called a Piaggio which was in red, white and blue markings of Qld Airlines.

When I finally got the wooden aircraft I thought there was a mistake as the Piaggio is also a rear propeller aircraft and it did look odd.

The impeccable logic of a Mother, she is quite right of course :wink2: It has become one crowded airfield :wink2:

Viewing all these excellent photos of this outstanding airfield dio, with all these marvelous aircraft, has made my day. This is how these models should be displayed, in their natural habitat. Mine are all lined up on boring shelves, and have no real life. This airfield is alive with aircraft and all sorts of related activities. So many things to look at, so many details to seek out. It is a real treat. Thank you all.^&cool -- Al

Well done Marc and "dad" for the excellent pic's and awesome work on the airfield fellas!

Tom

Another dio for the cabinet display at the museum, this one is of the 46th Battalion A.I.F advancing through German wire behind a British Whippet 1918.
