This is a please Andy message.Could you find it in your wisdom to do a run of Anzacs in your next run of WW1.This is a area not well covered as to date .The Australian & New Zealanders were very involved during this period and the subjects would be outstanding.Lets say the Lighthorse mounted and off there horses.Diggers in the trenches and of course Simpson & his donkey.Maybe a group of soldiers rowing ashore. If you combine them with the English and Turks you would have a great sale combation.I no of one store in Brisbane that would sell quite alot off these as it is near a army barracks.I do no sales is a part of why and when k&c release new subjects but should dollar value stand in the way of true art and the way your company works.Andy you have to make what sells but sometimes it would be good for your company to make something just because it needs to be made for history.Your work is outstanding second to none.Andy Mel made brave heart so could you help us poor bloody aussies out and please consider in the next few years something special for a Scottish colney I meen English one.Regards Chris.

Some good suggestions there Chris:) Anzacs and Brits yes please! Mel Gibson no thanks(terrible films)

Blcokbusters maybe Oz,but IMHO some of the worst truth distorting garbage i've ever seen.He has his own 'agenda's' as it were i won't say what i think they are but we in this country sure know what they are.You only have to look at Gallipoli,Patriot,Braveheart to see history twisted to influence one peoples opinion of another country.I am heartily sick of Holywood ignoring facts and History to promote their outdated stereotypes and predjudices. You only have to look at U571 to see History turned on its head for profit.

Rob

Patriot was horrible as to history, but as to Braveheart, other than the wrong historical period and costuming, and there was no bridge in Mel's Stirling Bridge battle recreation, my history books do show that the English were smoked ,in just about every encounter with Wallace and Edward was a despot and his son fopish.......history is history and though hollywood may dress it up wrong ,the reasonable thread of truth was still there. And to say that the English did not sacrifice their colonial troops at Galliipoli and Dieppe, is also denying fact by saying that hollywood has an agenda at least in Mels movies oh and by the way, Tarleton was a butcher ,from most comtempory accounts..Mels problem in Patriot was trying to get the entire history of the southern theatre of the american revolution to be represented in 1 man and 2 hours.....Michael

Oz,after thinking about it i decided to remove my answer to your question.Lets just say i like some of his films but not others.I am also a little prone to overeacting when it comes to what i may see as slurs against my country, intended or otherwise.I did enjoy the Lethal weapon films and a lesser known comedy of his 'What a women wants'.Cheers mate

'Dress it up wrong'.mmmm i see:rolleyes: of course you don't think there is a hollywood agenda because your American and its not your country that is often the victim of the slur!.All i say my friend is don't believe all you see.

Rob

Rob, I know how you feel when you see some of the made up movies Hollywood etc make these days, but movie makers have been trying to change history for many years and Mel Gibson is no worse than the other producers. The irony is that if said movies were made in Russia everyone would be saying that they're just a lot of propaganda bs :D

Very true my friend, very true!:).Your right in that this sort of thing has gone on for years and its not only Mr Gibson. And sometimes i have to admit the stereotyping of some of these companys is very funny.I recently watched an episode of 'lost' in which there was one outdoor scene in 'London'.In the space of one scene of filming they crammed in A London Bus,an Underground sign a telephone box and a London Policeman patrolling what looked like the same 3ft over and over!.It was very funny indeed. And at the end of the scene the couple in question said to each other 'lets go have lobster at the end of the pier'! I simply can't go into London without Lobster on the pier Oz!;) Perhaps they thought they were filming in your country mate!

Rob

I gave up watching Lost long ago and wish someone had lost all the scripts :) But I guess you need to fill in your days somehow when you're back is bad. Personally I don't watch much tv these days as I have about 200 dvd's that I'm happy to watch over and over again. Of course there are plenty of anti Brit versions amongst them including "A Bridge To Far" etc. The strange thing is that amongst all the big budget war movies they have made recently some of the oldies such as "The Desert Fox" with James Mason as Rommel are hard to beat.

Hi Guys,

Re WWI Anzacs — I love the subject whether it be Diggers and Kiwis at Gallipoli — actually there were more British troops there but that’s another story.

I’m also a big fan of the Aussie Light Horse but first things first we’ve only just begun WWI and we just done a sprinkling of Jerries for 1914. Don’t you think more early war Germans in action plus the British Expeditionary Force and our French and Belgian allies might appear before we jump straight to 1915 and the events in the Dardanelles?

Don’t worry though WWI is going to be BIG...VERY BIG and K&C will land on Gallipoli and try to capture those Turkish positions...just not yet!

Best wishes and...happy collecting!

Yeah you can't beat the oldies.I too have a large libary of War films, watched 'Battle of the Bulge' yesterday and really enjoyed it.Even though they were nothing like Tigers!.Might try 'Run silent run deep' this afternoon.I love 'Bridge too far' and don't really see that as Anti British, more about British cock ups!.

Hi Andy,

I'm new to this forum and reletively new to collecting but gotta say: Luvyawork.com!

Will look forward to the ANZACs one day when they are released. As many others here publish wish lists, may I ask that if you do release a Gallipolli edition, can you make a Kiwi from the Wellington Rifles running along holding his bum? :D My great great uncle was there and got shot through the buttocks and it was always a source of amusement to our family. He was also wounded in the Boer War where he got his shoulder all smashed up - come to think of it he ended up a bit of a wreck! Anyway the Wellingtons on Chunik Bair would be great.

Cheers

Karl

Andy, good news about the upcoming WWI stuff, including ANZACS etc.

Rob, maybe you'd better watch A Bridge To Far again as there were a number of anti Brit jibes ;) For example, Thirty (XXX) Corp's tank crews having a brew of tea whilst the Paras were being shot up down the road at Arnhem. The fact that the tanks were ordered to halt because the Germans were well prepared with anti tank weapons along that raised narrow road appears to have been overlooked. Not to mention that they didn't have any infantry support. All of those tanks would have been destroyed for more loss of life and no gain.

There are many inconsistencies in the movie. You may have noticed in the movie that a complete set of plans was wrongly taken over the battlefield by an (American) officer in a glider which was captured by the Germans. In the movie it is glossed over and suggested that the Germans didn't believe the plans. In fact the Germans took a great deal of notice of the plans and it helped them considerably in stopping the allies.

Karl, my Grandfather was hit in the upper thigh (lower backside) with a stray bullet whilst in a hospital on Gallipoli :)

Hey Oz,yes your right. Now i think about it there are a few digs in it arn't there.Oh well if theres nothing else to do bash the Brits! I still like the film though and enjoy some of the combat scenes.

The WW1 range sounds fantastic doesn't it.To think we will (all in good time:) )See Brits,Anzacs,French,Germans,Belgians,Doughboys.By the sound of it its going to be a big ongoing range,Can't wait!

Rob

I still watch it as well, about once or twice a month, I guess I'm a war movie AND a forum addict :)

Hi Oz,
He was fairly unlucky to have been hit whilst in hospital - I guess most of the aid stations were more or less front line at Gallipoli.
Good to hear from you - where in Oz are you?
Cheers

Yep, Gallipoli wasn't the best place to have a picnic :) In fact he got creased on the forehead the first day on Gallipoli which knocked him out for an hour or so. My grandfather reckoned an artillery battery was behind the hospital tent he was in at the time and used to fire over it, which would attract some attention from the Turks I guess :D

I live in Sunny Queensland :p ;)
