This How-to-Paint has been commissioned by Pierre after he became the new owner of the Elephant Battery that I painted a while back. Pierre has chosen a WW1 Austrian Field Gun and crew and these are also made by Fusilier Miniatures in 54mm scale. This photo is taken from the Fusilier miniatures web site.

The castings are supplied as groups in separate plastic bags and just for Simon (Wraith) they have a nice “Green” card insert!

I use gel type super glue for assembling metal to metal; this fills in some of the joints that aren't a perfect fit and also doesn't run everywhere.

I haven't tried Fusilier's castings yet, but after seeing your close-ups, I will have to look at their catalog. Actually, Fusilier owns Hussar Miniatures, don't they? I have their Prussian Hussars on my want list.

Great subject for another SBS, looking forward to watching your progress!

Prosit!

Jeffrey in action, once again. Herr Baron, Jeff did the RHA for me last year and that was a Fusilier casting. You should be able to find it easily in this section of the forum.

The castings have a couple of light coats of grey car primer which is ideal for metal castings, gives a nice even coverage and dries to the touch in 20 minutes or so.

They also have the Tommy Atkins range in their group as well.

Cheers

Jeff, this looks really great! I have seen the fusiler miniatures in the magazines. Their painting is not so hot . I do like their castings and wondered about their Napoleonic Series. Sometimes I wish I lived there to avoid the shipping costs. But then I would be broke from buying all the wonderful castings . So looking forward to your next installment.

Hi Dick,

Back again after a break……the tunics had a coat of dark brown mixed from red and blue, the trouser colour is dark blue mixed with a smaller amount of dark grey. I have noticed that the actual figures I am painting have less detail (like the cross belts) than the figures in the Fusilier Miniatures photo…..

You got that brown very nicely, Jeff, good job.
Again a pleasure to see a new set forming.

The equipment belts and boots are just black from the tin. The satchels are tan. Red collars, cuffs, trouser stripes and epaulettes for the crew, but the Officer will have gold epaulettes as he is in charge. When all this has dried the fleshy bits will be next.

They are shaping up nicely. Less detail They look good to me but the gloos reflection makes it hard to see.
