WW1 Austrian Field Gun & Crew (1 Viewer)

Right, back to reality.........:)

As promised the face and hands are painted using a mixture of buff and red and the eyes, eyebrows and hair etc are painted in a light brown colour. To finish off for this post the shakos have a coat of black.

Another superb job -- just hope it keeps on raining so we can see more and more. Thanks Jeff.

Hi Jeff,

Your figures are beautiful! Your talent as a painter is most remarkable. Please keep up the great work as I am thoroughly enjoying watching you bring figures to life. Thanks for sharing your progress with us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks Pat, I have to admit that these aren't the most detailed of figures due to the era, but makes for an interesting subject.

These are done now, so just the gun to do.

Jeff

Finished off the little fiddly bits and a nice shade of green for the bases………next to get the attention of the paintbrush will be the Field Gun.

Now the crew have been completed I will be starting on the field gun. I don't think that the FM version of a beige/brown carriage and gold barrell is that accurate so unless I hear otherwise from Pierre, I will be painting the field gun as per this illustration.

I must add that I found this on the excellent Treefrog Resources Section under WW1.

Thanks

Jeff

Here we are with a nice shiny coat of gloss grey, the whole model has been covered ready for the detail to be added later.

The seats and padded backrests were painted in a mixture of brown and tan.

Here we have the finished gun; I painted the wheel rims, elevation hand wheels and the open part of the breach in gunmetal. Bronze/brass colour for the sighting mechanism.

The complete crew with the field gun………I finished off the officer’s binoculars in olive green so as to give a bit of contrast with all the black equipment belts and case.

Well that's this one finished....thanks for looking.

I have to look this up, unless anyone knows off the top of his head: This field piece looks a lot like the German 7.7cm field piece, which I think was made by Krupp, and was the main field piece of the Kaiser's army. Did the Austrians import the Krupp piece, or build it under license at Skoda, or are the Austrian and German field guns just plain different?

I'm thinking about this, because if that is the Krupp gun, I could use Fusilier's casting, with a German crew, to round out my collection of Imperial German Army figures.

It reminds me of the piece that was included in the Charles Biggs' set of Imperial German Field Artillery in review order.

In any case, nice work, Jeff!

Prost!

Brad,

As far as I can see from the Fusilier Miniatures website this is a Krupp and they also do various German crews as well.

Thanks

Jeff

Another nice piece Jeff. Particularly like the gunmetal finish on the arty, looks very realistic.
