To go with my other AIP WW1 conversions, here is a cavalry trooper. The AEF had four regiments of cavalry in France. They were mostly used for mesenger and MP duty, but a composite battalion of US mounted troops were used during the St. Mihel offensive.

Denver, I started cutting on a TSSD cavalryman's legs, then I remembered the two German riders in the TSSD "German Elite Forces" set. Well, I found one and noted that the guy was in "riding breeches" and had modern boots with spurs. The torso and right arm were the AIP "grenade thrower". The left arm came off a TSSD cavlry trooper - fortunately the reins fit right into his hand. The skirt of the coat is epoxy filler (kneadtite). I'll post an "in progress" photo.

The rifle is about 40% of an H-R Springfield in a scabbard made of Kneadtite.

Excellent conversion. Are you painting your figures or color-coding them in that nice color?

As far as painting the conversions; GK5717 is my primary customer and he prefers a single color for each series of troops. I tried to match the brown used on the first release of AIP US infantry. I noticed that the new versions of set #5401 (the sets with new/revised poses) have a touch of greenish in their brown.

If and when I convert for my own use, I paint them as "models", i.e. full colors. I still need to get more consistent on eyes.

Superb conversions, it actually looks like a manufactured item, only much much better. Great work
