Brian:

Is M3A2 Half Track Personnel Carrier on your radar screen?

BTW, I got the replacement Horsch and I came intact. What a great piece! Had Alex do a repaint of the Armored Car 222 and AA Gun in Panzer Gray. Great sets. I am amazed at the details.

Wish you do more American sets.

N-P, I know I'm being trivial but the M3A2 existed ONLY as a prototype. It was meant to replace the M2A1 halftrack car and M3A1 halftrack personnel carrier. A couple were built and tested but production never started. The Army decided that they had enough halftracks and they no longer desired halftrack APCs for the post-war army.

The mistake is common and comes from Tamiya chosing the M3A2 as the prototype for their model. It's not much different from the M3A1, but there are small details. 21C even used an "M3A3" designation for either their 1/32nd ot 1/18th halftracks, which really but my little trivia mind into a spin!

The Pacific is WIDE OPEN and has tons of potential. I agree with all the comments posted and would add that I would love to see the battle of tarawa WITH THE FAMOUS SEAWALL---a Marine Corps Legend.....Stryker II

A Tarawa wall would be a real original in the world of WW2 figures. An amtrac with Marines huddled at the base of the coconut logwall on the beach..great visual references from color footage from Tarawa. My dad was at every beach with the second division except Tarawa, due to being home with malaria. Probably saved his life. Black sand beach from Iwo Jima would be nice.

Will certainly look forward to this Brian. As Mr Gambale said some Aussies and Brits with mules would be wonderful.Although its always good to see the US Marines it sure would different and very welcome to see some of the other Allied Nations involved.

Brian: one message to you as the world has already known for 233 years:

LAND THE LANDING FORCE

THE MARINES HAVE LANDED AND THE SITUATION IS WELL IN HAND!!

I can picture it now - an amtrac unloading Marines in various charging, firing and defensive positions, Japanese infantry charging headlong into them, flags waving and bugles blaring, hand to hand fighters..it's gonna be great. After this, we'll start up on some ideas for the frozen Chosin in the Korean War. We need a manufacturer to do some different ideas other than Hitler's staff car for the umpteenth time.

GUNG HO Kingtoot--I like your thinking!!!..............Stryker II

Very inspiring I got goosebumps already!:)

I've voiced these opinions before on another mfr's forum and just got brushed off and basically told not to hold my breath because there isn't enough interest and money in Pacific theater. I don't buy that mfr's stuff anymore.

I don't either!! If there isn't enough interest, why are all of the King & Country sets sold out??? I have had dealers tell me that they could have sold many more sets, IF they had the product. HOW MANY NAZIES DO YOU NEED TO HAVE, and most of all----WHY??????...............Stryker II

Also, having thought about it, the Japanese were a much harder and fanatical foe than anyone we ever faced in WWII---INCLUDING HITLER'S SS! For example, even the SS would surrender when all was lost and mainly to the allies excluding russian units, On the other hand, most japanese units fought to the death and tried to tak out as many of the enemy as they could. If we would have had to invade the home islands, we might STILL be fighting them 50 years later!!............Stryker II

I'd like to see some "non-standard" weaponry, Reising submachine guns, maybe a Johnson here or there. Maybe some Japanese with Type 99 submachineguns. As a collector, I've seen very few figures with the weapons that we know were there, and used, but we never see. How many Germans do you see with G-43's? Not many. Just my two cents.

Good idea, but don't forget that the Reising was withdrawn fairly early (not long after Guadalcanal and the lower Solomons). The Johnson LMG was purchased for Marine paratroop units, but one never hears of it in Marine hands after late 1942- early 1943. Many were traded to the First Special Service Force ("Devil's Brigade") for BARs. The 1SSF is the unit most associated with the Johnson LMG. Johnson rifles in US service tended to fade out as the numbers of M1 rifles caught up with requirements.

Another unusual small arm was the "Stinger" LMG. A few Marines took salvaged aircraft-type .30 MGs and added stocks and bipods for ground use. The aircraft gun had a much higher rate of fire than the standard M1919A4 LMG. They were discussed in an article in "American Rifleman" a few years ago.

The whole genre can be done right thats for certain. Last night I watched Letters From Iwo Jima again, what a fantastic piece of film: very inspiring.

Its certain we'll add a Pacific installment sometime this next year. I'll use this thread to pivot from when designing the first install. Contributors will actually see their suggestions in the build, thats for certain. Its a great period and certainly overlooked.

Im sold, count me in.

best regards,

Brian

As it stands today, I have as many Collector's Showcase figures as I have K & C. If it wasnt for K&C's Iwo Jima Marines, I would have less. With any terrain accessories of the basic coconut trees fallen and standing and some sand patches with underbrush, these Pacific figures would be able to represent any island battle that collectors would want. A marine figure standing with a Stinger...shades of John Basilone - wow!!

Guadalcanal seems like a good place to start, Henderson field, maybe a F4F Wildcat and makeshift groundcrew and lots of 1st Raider Batt. fighting merciless Japanese infantry on Edson's Ridge, and the defense of Henderson Field.

Brian and others: I'm loving this response, great ideas and so many fantastic scenerios to choose from!!!.............Stryker II
