WW2 Planes - What can we realistically hope for? (1 Viewer)

Looks very nice in the green and brown camo.

What sleek lines, curved beauty and class, the Spitfire is cool too:wink2:

There are just two aircraft that would be must haves for me ( actually ignore that its rubbish, there's probably about six^&grin). But two I'd really like to see, a Hurricane MkIID in Desert colours with under wing cannon and a Bolton Paul Defiant from the Battle of Britain. I 'm hopeful on the Hurricane but when talking to Andy he thought the Bolton Paul Defiant may be too expensive as its that bit bigger to produce. Apart from those two we then go into dream world because I'd love a Mosquito or a Beaufighter etc but they're very unlikely indeed.

Desert Tank busting Hurricane a good call Rob .like to see a D-Day MK9 Spitfire

I think we are likely to see different paint schemes on previously released airplanes, more WWI birds ( as they are hot right now ) and perhaps some Pacific Theatre planes like Zeroes, Corsairs etc. I look to what K&C has released in their wooden warbird series as an indication of what may come. As far as the bigger birds go, I doubt we will see them. They are impractical to display at 1:30 scale and are cost prohibitive for the majority of collectors.

I'm digging 'Soviet Storm' on the Military Channel right now, so I'd go for a Sturmovik!^&grin^&cool (I know, too big, but I'm just dreaming!^&grin)

should not be a problem even in polystone wonder how popular it would be?? Great aircraft though and played a big part in bringing in agents and arms to cause havoc in the occupied territories

Would think with all the RAF stuff a bofors gun should be coming. the dora as Neil mentioned but, think your right about the limited number that can be done in polystone. don't see anything bigger than a single prop fighter and, maybe a meteor jet sometime down the line. Hurricanes and Spits for late war and desert
Mitch

I'm up for the later variants of the Spitfire. The Dora comment almost scared me. In groundpounder mode.....The Dora rail gun is freaking HUGE!. Then back to A/C mode. More realistic expectations.

Did the Me 109 E see service in the east?

I have a couple books on the 1942 campaign that show Emils, which could mean they had winter camouflage the previous winter. The photos are all summer '42 shots, so no winter pics for use as reference. One caption reads: "...the Ergaenzungsgruppe of JG77 was still operating the Bf 109 E in the Spring of 1942...".

Other units with Emils are III./JG5 in Finland, & I./Sch.G 1 in AG South

Page seven of the Restayn book on Kharkov has a picture of a winter white painted ME109 G of first gruppe pick-as squadron. Looks very nice. I looked up this unit and what they were flying whilst the operations were ongoing for the battles in the area and, they are down as having two ME109 E's. so, they could be winter painted as were all the squadron aircraft at that time of the Kharkov battles and battles in and around the area. Have not looked at the other squadrons that were active in the area for a while but, its certainly certain that many aircraft would have been involved in the russian campaign
